Dear sir,

the first suspect is your battery, which is running in low battery....kindly recharge the battery for few hours with the original charger, because the charging volt varies from battery to battery of the same brand and using this universal charger is definitely going to harm ur camera very worse, kindly go for the original charger and charge the battery and then put your camera on........

if still the problem is the same ,the problem is usually caused by virus and sometimes it might be software failure also, which causes some of the menu not to function, the only solution is to flash ur cam software from the nearest jvc service centre .

thank you...take care

I have an SR-DVM700EU that would not power up. I have replaced multiple failed components in the switchmode power supply, and it now works. The unit would power up but stop someway through the booting...

Did you replace ALL the electrolytic capacitors in the power supply? Generally, whenever there are several faulty components in this part of any circuit, it is a good idea to replace all of the caps as well as checking for leaky diodes and faulty IC regulators.

My guess is that the SMPS still has an intermittent partial fault, which is preventing the unit from staying on. I would recommend that you check the ICs in that circuit, replace as required (if you haven't already done so). These can be 3-pin or 5-pin regulators, but they are voltage rated, so obtain the correct types for this model if you do decide to replace them.

I hope the fault hasn't spread to the microprocessor on the main board - this can be expensive to replace if faulty. I would recommend that you re-check the power supply again - thoroughly. Touch up potential dry solder joints if necessary.

If the unit still misbehaves after all of this; perhaps it's time to consider submitting it to a workshop, get a quote (and a second opinion) on the likely cost(s) of repairs, then you can make a decision afterwards as to whether or not you wish to go ahead and get this fixed for good. It's up to you.

JVC SR-DVM700 Recorder

When I contacted JVC tech support their answer was this "On page 54 of the manual it describes how to connect to a DV device. This would be the same way to connect to a computer, but we do not guarantee operation".

Not much help if you ask me, but at this time there does not seem to be a problem to them and thus no real solution.
