Hello,

Sorry to say, but technically, the problem is from the television.
It is a component problem in the television, it is not from the cables connected to the television.

There is a board that controls the display of the television, the board is known as a t-com board. once it is faulty, you will have your sound but you will not have any display of any kind.

So if you get your t-com board replaced. your will enjoy the services of your television.

Take care

Hello,
There are two things that I can suggest.
1-Test your optical cables to make sure they a good on a known working source because they are very fragile and break very easily.
2-Try to eliminate the use of optical output from tv to receiver. There may be a problem from the HDMI to optical conversion at the tv. Instead, try running the audio directly from the source to the receiver, and let the tv deal with video input only.
Hope this helps,
Good Luck.

We have a new vcr snowy

It seems that you need to take the new unit back for exchange, since you are using the same output for the vcr and the dvd and your dvd is giving you a good picture, the vcr is acting up and since it's new either exchange or repair will be needed.

No adio

Picture but no sound is common and there are loads of ways this could happen.

Check red and white cables haven't been swapped and are in the right places in both machines, tv and source. A good way to test is to make sure red cord is in red input on tv and that the correct AV channel is on (ie you have picture) then try each output from source (DVD player, sky, etc). If none give you joy there could be a problem with the AV channel you're using so switch to another, ie change from AV1 to AV2, and then start again.

TV does not always recognize the DVD player

that's a firmware problem where your tv's firmware does not handshake with your dvd's firmware. This could be from your dvd's software being to old for your tv to understand it. HDMI (TDMS Technology) still has Alot of catching up too do with 3rd generation tv's. Alot of HDMI devices still have the first gen software loaded into them. So a tv after 2005 won't work with HDMI from 2003 (1st gen). Most tv's made after 2007 have software that's "backward compatible" so they will work with first gen HDMI.

How does your tv perform outside this problem???

Most likley your scart cable is the culprit, check whether the scart cable is the AV I/O type. And also better check the audio settings of the DVD player. Hope u hook up the speakers correctly. Cheers, Rifaa

No sound when using coax...

Do you use AV inputs for your Cable box? If so, try swapping the audio inputs in the TV, that is, interchange the AV inputs for your DVD and cable box. If sound is audible in a different input, then the Audio input (for Cable) on your TV is faulty. One simple suggestion, Why don't you route your Cable signal through the Tuner of your VCR?
