Some vacuums have a resettable circuit breaker in case of overload or switch in case of blockage. Both are usually a pushbutton type thing (like on a powerstrip). Find it, reset by pushing, and run the motor. Check for obstructions and for anything that could be preventing the brush-roller from turning. If the breaker or switch trips again there is a problem that needs to be resolved.
The manual might be helpful.

How to belt replace instructions

Hi! Below are instructions to replacing the belt on a Hoover U5064-930.

Disconnect cleaner from electrical outlet.

1. Place handle in operating position and turn cleaner over so bottom side is up.

2. To remove bottom plate, insert end of flat screwdriver into wide area of right-hand slot and push handle of screwdriver to the rear.Repeat in left-hand slot.

3. Lift extension of bottom plate, rotate plate and remove from cleaner body.

4. Remove agitator and broken agitator belt.

5. Slip agitator through new belt. (With lettering toward outside of cleaner) and position belt in belt guide. Push end of belt into opening in cleaner body. Reposition agitator making sure to align flat sides of projection on belt end of agitator with flat sides of slot in cleaner body.

6. Place the three tabs on bottom plate into slots in front of cleaner body. Snap bottom plate into place over agitator.

7. Remove hood by turning cleaner over and removing nozzle control knob on front of hood -- grasp knob and pull up.

8. Place handle in operating position and turn cleaner over. Insert end of flat screwdriver into one of the four slots beside an arrow on bottom of cleaner.

9. For slots nearest the rear wheels, push handle of screwdriver toward cleaner handle; for remaining two slots, pry outward to release latches.

I0. Turn cleaner over and lift off hood.

Il. Stretch new belt onto motor pulley.

Extra effort may be required to stretch new belt onto pulley.

Turn agitator, making sure the belt is not pinched between agitator and cleaner body. The belt must rotate freely inside the belt guide. If agitator does not turn, remove bottom plate and reposition belt in belt guide.

Hope this helps!

Vacuum cleaner does not work

most upright vaccums have a reset button at lower rear area of the vaccum. operates similar to gfi plug reset, push button back in usually with small screwdriver. is your debris bag to full? power brush jammed with debris? hose plugged? this will cause motor to over heat and in turn kick out reset button. always unplug power cord before putting fingers in areas where moving parts are!!

Ridgid shop vac is not sucking

Check the intake hose for a blockage. Attach the hose to the exhaust outlet and turn the vacuum on. If no extracted air is blowing out of it the hose is totally clogged up

Bissell vaccum cleaner just turned off why

Ive had this problem before. I have never figured out what caused it. I let it be for a few minutes and it started working again.. weird.. I'd just let it sit for a few then try it again.

The on off swtich doesn't work on our hoover windtunnel vaccum cleaner. Can it be repaired?

Hi,
If its just the switch then by all means it can be repaired or replaced. If it needs replacement and the part is not available, you could replace it with a generic switch which may need some modification. Alternatively you can bypass the switch with the wiring and turn the machine on and off at the wall outlet.
Best wishes,

Central vaccum

If the outlets work on the 2nd story ok, and not on the 1st floor, then you may have a wire that has come loose. There maybe a junction that split off between the 1st and 2nd floor. I assume you are talking about the suction and not the brush roll on the power head. If it is the power head not working, then check where the 2 prongs go into the outlets to make sure that the plug receptacle haven't gotten pushed in from the holder.
