Question about Brother MFC 210C All-In-One InkJet Printer

My printer reads, "Cannot detect Black Ink. Reinstall slowly." I have done this several times and I still get the same message. It had also said the same for the yellow ink but I reinstalled the yellow ink and now it is okay. Thank you! Pat Wrobel Dickens

    When I did what you said, it read "No cartridge (even thought the black ink cartridge was in). Open ink cartridge cover, then reinstall ink cartridge."



    I don't have a cartridge cover so I did what you said to do again and then I got the first message, "Cannot detect Black Ink. Reinstall slowly."



    Help!!!

Hi PW.

Clean the contacts inside the ink carriage. I mean the metal plate inside the slot where you put the black cartridge, clean using isopropyl alcohol or circuit cleaner solution.

Try again. Brother printers may give some trouble with ink detection, if problem persists you may need to turn off both printer and computer. Then disconnect power cord from printer and PC (power drain may help). Restart the whole system and try again.

If still no luck, then the chip in the cartridge may be defective (quite common if cartridge is not original or refurbished).

If the above did not fix the problem, and the cartridge is NEVER detected, even after trying different cartridge, then the wiring to printhead located at the back of ink carriage is broken. Testing is done reading Ohms between the plate contacts inside the ink carriage and the wires at the back of ink carriage.

Hi! Please try this. Uninstall the black ink again then remove the printer from power source. Press hold the power button for 10secs. while unplugged to reset the system. Plug the printer again and reinstall the black cartridge. Please shake the cartridge a little bit before installation. HOpe this helps and thank you for using FIxYa!

It alwayas says on a printer screen "reinstall slowly cannot detect black ink" please help!


The following may work: remove all the ink supplies. Remove the printhead and soak it for about 5 minutes in 0.5" of very hot water. Gently blot the printhead on a soft damp paper towel to remove the excess water, then replace in the printer and then reinstall the ink supplies.

I have a new LC61 and just replaced the blk


Leave the machine on with ink installed, unplug power for a few seconds and then plug in while you hold the stop button for a few seconds. Should clear the error for you, if not you may need a new ink sensor board.

After installing new cyan cartridge, display reads No Cartridge


look at the ink cartridge and and first see if the ink covers the top of the cartridge. there is a little part of the ink cartridge the best way to explain it, is there is a tab,. that tab goes into a sensor. if the tab has ink on it, then you mostly like have a problem with the sensor itself. but if there is no ink, the printer is correct. i have had several people bring printers with those type of problems, and when they bring the cartridge i look at it, and they are practically empty.
