I have a di-524 wireless router. Last week everything was running great until the power company cut the power and then turned it back on. The AC adapter shortage out and I purchased a new one. I reset the modem and the router and now my router is showing signal strength low.
I am trying to connect my wi-fi blue ray dvd player so I can watch videos online...but I keep getting failed internet connection

The first question is whether your change of service provider really has any connection with your new lack of range. If your new cable modem contains a wireless router, it's possible it is interfering with your old router. You only need one, so in that case you should remove your DLink and configure your wireless cable router to your satisfaction. Otherwise, you may have coincidentally picked up a new source of interference; you may want to change the channel on your DLink router to see if that improves your range. The third possibility is that your DLink radio is going sour with age -- it happens -- and may simply need replacement.
You do not need a password for cable. You need to make sure that your router is using DHCP. Whenever you connect something to your cable modem, you MUST turn off everything. Then turn on in this order:
1 Turn on cable modem and wait until the modem syncs with your ISP. 2. Turn on your modem and wait until the router and the modem sync up. 3. Turn on your PC
Your cable modem will remember the MAC address of the last device that was plugged into it, which is why you must turn off your modem to clear out the modems memory.
Have you tried the reset feature, small button near the power port.
Hold it down for thirty seconds with the unit unplugged. If that doesn't work you may need to buy a new router as something may have failed some time ago and just not been noticed until it was turned off.
Try the reset, but I suspect whatever killed your modem likely killed the router at the same time.
Start your router, and keep and hold pressing on the "reset" until it resets by itself.
This will reset the router to defaults.
If the lights got back to work normally again, then you are ready to go. you can access your router by directing your browser to http://192.168.0.1
