Question about Kenmore Dishwashers

2 Answers

I turned on the dishwasher tonight and noticed nothing was happening, but I was getting a clicking sound. I moved the dial back to off and started over. Some water went in, but then nothing happened again. I clicked forward one click at a time. Sometimes water came in. THEN WATER STARTED LEAKING OUT. I clicked back to off. After water stopped leaking, I opened the door. There is still water in the bottom. What do I do???

    I have a Kenmore dishwasher (model 363.14478791).
I hadn't used the dishwasher in a month. I turned on the dishwasher tonight and noticed nothing was happening, but I was getting a clicking sound. I moved the dial to the right to off. As I moved the dial to the right, there were lots of clicks and clunks.
I started over and turned the dial to the start position. Some water went in, but then nothing happened again. I clicked forward one click at a time. Sometimes water came in. Then water started pouring onto the foor, so I moved the dial to the right and back to off. After water stopped leaking, I opened the door. There is still water in the bottom and heat in the dishwasher.

I wanted to get another opinion. I didn't realize that wasn't allowed.

I did not "reject" anything. I wanted to get another opinion.
I didn't realize you would prevent me from doing that.

Hi

Thanks for using FixYa. As the water is not draining and clicking is coming from the bottom so the issue seems to be with the drain pump solenoid.
Usually, these issues are related to kinked hoses, knocked out disposer unit (if connected with the dishwasher drain hose) & clogged drain pump & filter. Some of the most common reasons include that the drain hose isn't working properly, the drain pump isn't working correctly, or possibly there is a plumbing problem in your home's drain lines. First check whether the drain is not clogged or blocked and the line is not kinked. Check all the hoses for blockages & also clean the air gap. If you have checked the drain hose and can't locate the problem, then it is an issue with the drain pump of the dishwasher. Please accept the solution if the issue is resolved or post a comment for further assistance.

Thanks

Dont know why you rejected this session, if you have already checked the drain hose and still the issue is not resolved then it is the Timer that is bad and should be replaced.

Possible that the program controller unit is faulty, hence when you move the program contacts but not by itself. So to test this for confirmation , put the dial to prgram and wait , if there is no ticking of the unit to move forward, connect the input valve to let water in, then proceed to wash.
The drain is not working as the program is not moving up and so the controller by itself is a suspect.
Please check this out and respond.

Check the float switch inside the tub, near the front corner. Looks like a dome. Move it up and down gentle. Listen for a small click sound. Then try to start it.

GE diswasher hums but will not start cycle and starts to smell ho

Hi, Have your freind check and see if the water supply line under the sink has been turned on. The hum you are hearing could be the inlet valve. Please let me know if this has been helpfull or if I can assist you further.

Thanks

Our Nautilus dishwasher won't turn on. I can hear a buzzing noise, but nothing is happening. Does anyone now what I should do?

The same thing happens with my dishwasher. I have made it work by doing the following. When you start up the cycle, turn the dial to just a tick before "start." If you hear the buzzing, but no water is running, unlock and then lock the dishwasher door again. This usually gets it running. If it's still not running water, unlock, advance the dial a little bit, and lock again. This should work. You need to be around for the early parts of the dishwashing cycle because this machine tends to stop up and buzz without running water until it gets past "short wash." Every time this happens, do the same thing, unlock and lock, and advance the dial a little when necessary. Once you get past "short wash," it should complete the wash without intervention.

GE Dishwasher not working...

Sounds like you have a one of four possible issues. More info to diagnose would be helpful. (age, which mid cycle) If the motor runs when you turn the timer dial than it is a belt/motor pump issue. If the motor does not run than a bad motor start switch or the water level switch. More than likely the motor/pump assembly as this is usually the problem on these models. If newer check with whirlpool the manufacturer to see if it is covered by warranty.

Can't get the dishwasher to start!

Sounds like the pump seal is stuck. Cut the power and look at the back of the motor. There will be a cooling fan in the end of the motor. take the fan and keep rotating it until the seals break loose.
