Samsung tv won't work with sky plus, have had 7 new sky plus boxes of various makes but none work, all cables have been changed and new dish has been installed. is it the TV at fault?

Yeah the box is direct into the TV. the picture freezes or flashes from black and white or goes completely black. the problem varies depending on the make of the sky+ box

    thanks

What do you mean by not working. What happens? What is the connection from the box to the TV?

It's probably the new technology.Do you have a cable box or basic cable with a straight wire?If you have a box it should work.Sounds like you don't though. The cheapest fix would be a digital converter box.If you buy one and don't like the results, make sure you buy it at a place where they will accept the return.A dish digital box should work though.Do you have just a wire from the dish?It seems like a dish requires some sort of converter. How long have you had this problem? If you had a picture when they first went to digital,it would be the TV.That's all i can say.
Good luck!

I have a Panasonic tv model TH 42PZ80B; a Panasinic Blu-Ray dvd model DMP-BD50; a sky box (not as yet HD) and a Sony video SLV-SE 830G. I have a Satellite dish and a normal TV aerial. In the loft I have a...

You need to try and isolate the piece of equipment which is causing the problem.

You've already tried the aerial lead direct to the TV and this is OK.

Disconnect all scart leads and try the RF on its own.

Try the Aerial lead to video, then video to TV.

Try aerial direct to Sky box, then to TV.

Try just connecting the RF out from the Sky box to the TV (no aerial input), can you tune into a good channel 68 picture from the Sky box.

Then Try the VCR to the Sky box (no aerial input), see if you can tune into the VCR and Sky channel.
Hope that helps.......

My sky hd box intermitently looses sound then shortly after the picture goes then it freezes any ideas

poor satellite reception... possibly mis-aligned dish (moved by wind?) or a tree/building blocking line-of-sight have a local installer (most tv aerial installers) take a look at the dish/cable (for worn spots on the cable)

Just bought a samsung ps50a557s3f 50" plasma tv and the picture isnt very good.Have only got normal sky at the moment and i was wondering what the best settings are

Hi Smudger

Not sure if you still have this issue, but i have just bought this TV & also use sky (not + or HD)...

I got myself a Monster Cable Home Theatre surge protection unit from comet, basically it helps filter out all the background interference (picture & sound) & helps boost the signal sent to the TV..

I use a gold plated scart lead from the sky box to the TV & the picture is spot on.......i've not noticed any ghosting/pixeling etc & am well impressed...

The unit came with a top end HDMI cable & cost £135 (bit excessive you may think, but to buy the unit & cable seperate would cost £250!!) + the cable is a 'cable for life', so you can get a free updated cable as technology progresses :-)

My sky signal was always at half power (you can view this from the sky menu options) & now its almost full signal

Hi there, I live in a apartment on the side of my bosses house & he has 2 sky boxes, his is sky plus & mine is a normal box. Their both run off the same contract not separate. But when my boss...

if it is the same as directv - you used a splitter on the cable between the 2 boxes - you need to us a multi switch - or dual lnb

fyi - the boxes change channels by varying the voltage to the dish - if 2 boxes are giving different voltages it does not work
thanks
