Question about Tomtom GO 700 GPS Receiver

1 Answer

NOTHING HAPPENS It's off and resetting (bent paper clip) doesn't bring it back. It is charged, the green light upper left of screen is on when plugged into house current. Goes out when unplugged. Blank unlighted screen. Will not respond as in the past. It did possibly get hot but not "that" hot. What to do?

My tomtom go 510 has decided it will no longer switch on, I hold the on buttn down and the green light comes on but nothing else happens! Any ideas? Is it time to get rid and buy a new one?

make sure it has a good charge on it (a few hours on the home charger if you have one) then locate the reset hole where the mount attaches ..(see picture) and use a paper clip to reset it...depress the reset for about 15 seconds...if theres nothing else wrong with it, it will might have to press and hold the power button for up to ten seconds also, after the reset.

Maestro 4040 satellite is "stuck" and will not update to current location

make sure it has a good charge on it, then turn it on and find yourself a paper clip or something similar...looking at the 4040 screen, look on the left side of the gps near the bottom you will see a little pin hole (thats the reset)..use the paper clip to depress the reset, you will know you have reset it when the unit take it outside in clear view of the open sky and let it there for up to 30 minutes to allow it to aquire the will know they are locked on when you see a few green bars on the top right of the map screen.

if you want to know how to prevent this in the future, post back here.

make sure it has a good charge on it (plug it in to the home or car charger for a few hours) then turn it on after its charged good, then find reset button, the little hole on the left side at the bottom and insert a paper clip and gently push the reset...

the gps will then reset it self..let it boot up till it wont go any further. if theres nothing wrong with the firmware, it will eventually go past the warning screen on its own.

if that fail, let me know and ill help you update it, but it might have a bad digitizer (thats the part over top of the lcd screen that senses touch)

Seeking the repair of my tomtom Go 910

One suggestion is to plug the Tom Tom using the temporary power cord to you home circuit (not the power source from the car). That worked for me. Sometime the Tom Tom shuts down when left in the hot car requiring a reset. Then the best way is to plug in at home and restart. Try it, otherwise I can't help.

My tomtom 510 was working fine until this morning when I set it in it's windshield dock. The green light to show that it's charging came on but nothing else. It's been on the charger all day but won't...

Remove the docking foot from the unit and expose the docking connectors. The reset button is at the bottom left of the body next to the connectors. It's hard to see but a paper clip will do the trick. Push just hard enough to here it click. Now it is reset.

Lcd screen do not light up

Reset the unit by pushing a bent paperclip or pin into the hole on the bottom marked 'reset' turn it back on, plug it in & charge it via USB overnight or as long as you can in the car, make sure the led on the top is green, tap the bottom right of the screen & check the battery symbol on the unit says charging underneath.

If this doesn't help.
contact them about the problem...
