Toshiba TE2100 blank laptop screen

I have been using an external monitor for my TE2100. I unplugged the external monitor and booted up the laptop but the laptop screen is not working. The computer boots up fine. Sound is OK etc.

Try holding the Fn key down and then press the F5 key a few times, waiting a few seconds each time to give it a time to switch between display modes.

Check the steps given on the site below.

It could be simply the button is stuck that activates the monitor as it mentions, but it if their is even a faint image on the screen when shining a flashlight or other bright light on the screen, if their is a faint image it could be the inverter or backlight has gone bad, and if so you will need to have it serviced.

If you see nothing at all even when shiing a light on the LCD while using the external monitor, try right clicking on the deskop, select Properties, then select Settings and then Advanced. Once there you should see a tab called Monitor and see if you can select switch from the external to the internal LCD. The menus vary slightly by OS, model and video card so I don't have exact steps, but basically you will need to set the primary monitor to the internal LC.

Laptop is connected to the external LCD monitor, the monitor is on but screen is blank

There are at least 3 display options;

1) Internal monitor of laptop ONLY
2) Internal monitor AND external monitor source
3) External monitor source ONLY

Hold the Fn key down, and tap once on the F5 key.
Hot key through until you find the setting you want.
Release the Fn key

Hi, I have a Toshiba M305D-S4831 Laptop. I have a blank screen when I power it up. I know the hard drive is good because I tried it in another laptop. I think the issue is the bios. How do I reset...

The blank screen issue is almost always a video problem and requires a motherboard replacement to fix.

If you still wish to try resetting the bios:
Remove the battery/unplug the computer
open the covers on the bottom of the laptop look for a round battery it may be silver or green
Unplug/remove the battery for 30 seconds
plug the battery back in close the covers.
plug in the laptop and see if it powers on.

Can't connect to external monitor or to Sony bravia tv. When vga connected nothing happens at all on laptop but external monitor says " check cable" ( have tried another cable ). If connected in power off...

You need to:

- Connect everything with the laptop turned off
- Boot the laptop
- Use the Fn key plus F8 or F9 (I'm trying from a small picture of the keyboard!) to cycle through the external display options.

Setting correct screen resolution for external monitor

Instead of looking to the laptop drivers, try looking for the monitor drivers. If there aren't any, then research the video card for the machine to see if the specs you have are wrong. If there aren't any drivers for the monitor, then the drivers at Toshiba's support site should work, since they don't, I'm going to say it's in the video card.

Toshiba TE2100 blank laptop screen

You have a either a bad inverter (which lights the screen's tube) or a broken tube. that'd be my guess.

Try this: shine a bright light on the screen from the side - if the light is hot be sure not to be too close or the screen will melt - and see if there's any image on the screen. There should be...
