Question about Hoover Self-Propelled WindTunnel Bagless Upright VacuumVacuum

1 Answer

My machine (Hoover Wind Tunnel - bagless) is only 1 yr. old. The agitator brush doesn't turn all the time. I know it's not supposed to turn when in the upright position. However, it only seems to work when I have the setting on high. When I stop, but have not put the machine in the upright position, it stops again and then slowly starts moving. Could the V-belt be worn out already? In the owner's manual it states that this belt is not normally replaced. The exact same thing happened with my old Hoover upright, too. That's why I bought this new one...

Sounds like you should do two things: 1- Remove and clean the beater brush of all debris as best you can. At the end of the brush you will see a hard rubber piece, at both ends, that holds it in place in the body of the vacuum. Add some WD40 between the brush and these pieces and turn until they move freely. 2- When you reassemble, put a new belt on.
This should be all you need to do. If you find this information to be of help, I would appreciate a Thumbs Up from you. Be well, Paul

I will try this, Paul. Thank you. After researching on the internet last night, I found out that this vacuum cleaner is well-known for this problem.

Where is belt located on Hoover wind tunnel vacum. And how to replace it. My brushes are not spinning.

Its usually located underneath the body of the unit, turn it upside down and you should see the beater brush. You need to open the bottom cover to get at the brush and drive belt.

My hoover wind tunnel just quit while vacuuming. It is dead??? Two years old used about every other week? Any suggestions?

Some Wind Tunnels by Hoover have a poor design in the switch on the handle. Sometimes the switch does not turn on all the way and will stop running. Other times you can't turn the unit off.

My Vaccuum Hoover U5763-900 wind tunnel Twin Chamber is barely used. Belt is in tact and agitator is not worn. Nothing clogged. Agitator spins fine off the ground or on hard surface or flat rug. Once on...

It's because the belt is stretched out and has lost elasticity. It can turn the brush in the air but is not tight enough to turn it in the carpet. Replace the belt at least once per year even if the vacuum is never used.

My Hoover Wind Tunnel has no suction, unless I use the hose and wands. It is less than a year old. Where do I take it to get repaired?

Before you take it anywhere, please check the following:
1- Make sure the belt that runs the beater brush on the bottom has not broken. 2- Be sure the beater brush has not frozen up due to debris. You should be able to move it by hand. Best to remove the brush, clean all debris as best you can and add some WD40 to the rubber pieces at each end of the brush. Turn the rubber pieces to work the WD40 into axle at the end of the brush until they move easy and reassemble.

How do you change the Hoover wind tunnel belts?

If you turn the vacuum over there will be (4) screws that hold on the base cover for the roller brush. Remove the screws and the cover and you can get to the belt(s). You can get replacement belts here:

Hoover wind tunnel 2 bagless vacuum not working

Place handle in low position and turn cleaner over so bottom side is up.
Remove the 4 screws in bottom plate and lift off.
Look on the left side of the agitator brush. You should see the belt there. Remove agitator brush roll and used belt.
Discard belt.
With lettering on outside of belt, slide new belt over motor pulley.
Insert agitator though belt and place belt in belt guide on agitator.
Grasp agitator firmly and fit it onto position by first sliding end opposite the belt into the rectangular slot on side of cleaner.Pull other side of agitator into place
Turn agitator making sure belt is not pinched between agitator and agitator shield.
If this does not take care of your problem, then check your filters for dirt and your entire vacuum for blockages. Both filters do come out. If you can't get a new filter right away you can gently clean the paper filter and remove a lot of dirt. (I recommend outside)! The other filter is washable.
Make sure it is well dried before replacing.
Good luck.

Hoover wind tunnel upright self propelled. U6473-900. Brush does not work. Heard it was a 'brush controller' problem and can be fixed. Please tell me how.

Most likely the flat belt has stretched enough so as to not turn the pulley that in turn turns the brush roll using a V belt. Also there is a small idler wheel, if hook up, then it won't engage the V belt.

Either the brush rolls are bad, ends are bad, or the gear housing/motor asm. is bad and will have to be replaced. ee84874.jpg
