Pioneer HU UB Series Power Shortage (Pioneer DEH-p5000UB)

How do I convert the AUX2 rear output to an additional USB cable so I can sufficiently power my Western Digital 250GB Passport with a USB Y cord? Is there a simpler way to power a harddrive? Currently when I plug in the passport to the USB cable, the head unit just flashes USB over and over, so I am assuming I need more power to the 5200 rpm harddrive?

Could be that your Passport is NTFS formatted - the Pioneer units will only read FAT 32 formatted drives. Mine is working great with a 60GB drive.

My HTC aria phone wont play music off my radio, when connected it says error 19?

HTC and other Android phones doesn't have the USB support for your HU. Only way to get signal from the phone to the HU is to use AUX 3mm cable from the phone to the aux port on the deck, assuming there is one. Other wise you will continue to get errors. USB is for Iphone and Ipod only!!!

I cant find the usb port

its actually at the back of the unit its a cable thats wired in probably about 15 cm long its on the top left hand side, who ever wired it in may have led the lead underneath so look around there, theyve hidden it at the back to clean the unit up and hide the wires from exposure.

How to reset my DEH-P5000UB, because my display turned off, weird

Re:"everyother light turns on the faceplate but the display is off"

That means that the unit is either faulty, or one of the two powered lines required had not been connected.

The unit is reset by simply disconnecting the connector at the back.

This will not help in fixing the problem.

Ensure that unit is wired properly. Use a voltmeter to test wiring.

Here installation manual with proper wiring.

Here also the owner manual.

The ipod is supplied with a USB out cable and the head unit is USB compatible. It has a USB out.Connect the ipod "out "cable to the USB of the HU and switch over to USB mode on head unit. Switch on the ipod & play . As for erahs problem ,these pioneer head units have "switchable"AUX modes. with the power "off"(the HU power off)press the multicontrol at the centre for 3/4 seconds.options like "language etc will b displayed .AUX will be one of the options .select it ":on".now u can play your ipod through your head unit .
