Question about Dryers
You should call a repairman. Sounds like a thermostat that failed and the heat built-up inside the heating chamber until the machine stopped. This would be a gas therm and replaced by a qualified repairman. Unplug the machine and don't attempt to operate it as it might lead to a fire.
