The most common cause of a no heat problem on a GAS dryer is worn or blown igniter. These appliances are equipped with a burner assembly with electronic igniters. The following link explains a little theory about how these igniters work:

http://www.fixya.com/support/r401858-replacing_oven_igniter_gas_range

I know the link is for a gas range, but the burner assembly functions are nearly identical, as well as, the type igniters used.

If you are having ignition problems it is probably a simple matter of a weak or bad igniter. The burner assembly will ignite automatically as long as the gas valve, igniter coils and igniter are all functioning properly. It can take up to 90 seconds for the burner to ignite. As the igniter ages, you may experience longer ignition times.

Replacement parts can be purchased at any of the following websites: searspartsdirect.com pcappliancerepair.com appliancepartspros.com repairclinic.com All these sites have competitive pricing, so shop and compare. The first three sites listed also have helpful exploded view parts illustrations to assist you with locating and properly identifying any parts you may need.

If you have any questions, please post back with your complete MODEL NUMBER and let me know. I hope this information is helpful to you.

Gas dryer works, but does not heat

Hello there:
here is a discriptive way of trouble shooting the dryer and it lists the common components that will normally fail if the element has not failed first
Gas Dryer Diagnosticsgasdryerguts.gifThis picture shows the main parts of a gas dryer's burner systemthat can fail. Understanding each component and it's failure mode canreally help diagnose a problem with a gas dryer.
Ignitor failure: The drum turns but the igniter doesn't glow, thereis no clacking sound as the gas valves open and there is no flameignition sound.
Radiant Sensor failure: The drum turns but the igniter doesn't glow, there is no clacking sound as the gas valves open and there is no flameignition sound.
Gas Valve Solenoid failure: The drum turns and the igniter glows andgets turned off but there is no clacking sound as the gas valves openand there is no flame ignition sound.
And another component failure to be aware of, but that's not shown here, is the operating thermostat:
Operating Thermostat failure: The drum turns but the igniter doesn'tglow, the gas valves don't open (there is no clacking sound) and thereis no flame ignition sound.
And here's a picture of other components to ohm out if you're getting no heating at all:

Dryer turns and air blows, but no heat. GGQ8811KQ0

Make sure that your dryer air vent is not being blocked by lent, and if it is not it is your element or thermocouple?

Gas dryer heat is intermediate

does the igniter glow white or orange? if it is orange you need to replace it. has to be white hot to ignite. if the igniter is white it could be the coils not opening the gas valve all the time - an intermittent problem.

Gas dryer Amana Model LGA30AW, rattling noise, no heat.

I was experiencing a similar problem. I just repaired mine yesterday, with the help of this web site. Remove the front bottom panel. The are two screws located on the bottom of the panel. They are there, just slightly hidden. Turn on dryer to heat. Look inside where the panel was. Wait a minute or two and you will see the igniter glow. After a minute or so you might hear a click and the gas valve will open to start flame. After a while flame will go out until it cycles again. If your igniter glows and you hear the rattling noise and then the igniter glow goes out and you have no flame, it might be your solenoid coils are bad. These are the two black round things located on top of the gas valve. Make sure your gas dryer is unplugged. There is a wire clip attached to each solenoid. Unplug them. I needed to pry them off carefully with a flat screwdriver. There is a metal bracket holding those two solenoids in. There are two screws that you will need to remove the bracket. Use a flashlight to see them. Slide them up and off the gas valve. One is a 2 prong and one is a 3 prong. I bought a new set for 26.75. Put the new ones back the same way as you took them off. The is little nips on the top of the solenoid that line back up with the holes of the top bracket when reassembling them. Plug your machine back in and turn on and watch to see if the ignitor glows again and watch for the flame. Put panel back on and enjoy dry hot clothes again. GOOD LUCK

Model GGW9200LW0 Gas Dryer Unit does not heat, I checked and cleaned the vent line and I also changed the fuse. Still no Heat, any suggestions?

If this is indeed a GAS dryer, the next thing I would do is verify that your igniter is working. If you can see inside the dryer (under the drum where the burner assembly is), there should be an orange glow coming from the igniter after you start it. In simple theory a gas dryer works like this:

1. Press the start button, dryer drum begins to tumble, igniter begins to glow.
2. Once the igniter reaches a specific current level (as determined by the type igniter you have), the gas safety valves open and you have ignition.

Typically, the common fail item is the igniter. They simply wear out with age. I would recommend reviewing the following link to learn a little more:

http://www.fixya.com/support/r401858-replacing_oven_igniter_gas_range

I know the link is for replacing an igniter on a gas range, but the type of igniter and theory of how it operates is essentially the same. It is common to have an igniter STILL glow, but not ignite, because it has become weak and will not draw enough current.

Another problem associated with no ignition are the gas coils on the burner assembly. Your dryer should have two of them. One is the pilot position coil (3 terminals), while the other is called the main coil (2 terminals). If one of these coils is defective, it is recommended that BOTH be replaced.

Searspartsdirect.com has an excellent exploded view illustration of the parts I've discussed here. Just type in your COMPLETE model number and look under the "Burner Assembly" heading. The igniter is listed as item number 4 (part #279311) and the coils are listed as items number 13 (part #694540) and 14 (part #694539).

I hope you find this information helpful. Let me know if you require additional assistance.

Dryer spins but does not heat

It sounds like to have a bad igniter. In order for your dryer's gas valve to open, the igniter has to be functioning properly. This is a built in safety feature to prevent gas from flowing without ignition. The igniter is located inside the machine usually under the drum near the gas valve. If you can access the inside look for a glow after you push the start button. If there's no glow, your igniter is bad. I hope this helps.
