Question about Computers & Internet

1 Answer

Hello, I recently had my brand-new laptop stolen (ouch), but thankfully, my mom called and gave me her old Toshiba Satellite M70-SR2 to replace it. The laptop works fine, It was recently wiped and restored because of some problems, but this seems to have created a new one: The laptop is running Windows XP SP2 (which i prefer over vista), but for some reason, It will not connect to my wireless network. I am using her new laptop to ask this question, so that basically says it isn't a router, network or modem-based problem. I also run an xbox off of this network. I can view our wireless network from the Toshiba, signal strength is at a full-five, connection type is set to automatic, but every time I try to connect to the network, It says it is validating (Also only seems to receive 1-10 packets). I have browsed other questions similar to this but have not found a solution as yet, so I thought I'd ask my own to narrow it down. Any suggestions? Also, while I am fairly computer-savvy, I am no technician (I understand most technical terminology, but some of the jargon and minor differences between terms are confusing to me). So I would appreciate it if any answers/suggestions could be stripped down to basic, step by step instructions (click here, open this, uncheck that, etc...) Thanks much in advance! Sincerely, James

I recently bought a Toshiba Satellite A305-S6916 from a guy, he gave me some codes to it, but not a password. I don't have it and how can I unlock the laptop?

If the system has a start up password and you do not have it you will need to contact Toshiba. The information you are looking for is not public to help protect against laptop theft. If the laptop is not reported as stolen, Toshiba will unlock it for a fee.

Good luck, Jim

My laptop toshiba m70-sr2 doesn't have wireless connection,, how can i have one?

it happens that some computers do not have a wireless button to turn it on simply because it was not made for. but this means you can use broadband to have internet access. go to a nearest outlet and ask for a wireless usb device that will help your laptop grasp any wireless internet network any where you are when you plug it in a usb port.

let me hear from you,

thanks,

Toshiba Satellite M70 FN key lock

Hello,
See if F10 or F11 are lit. If so press Fn and the key that has a light below it to deactivate it.
If you cannot login, use a USB keyboard to bypass that hurdle and run Windows to reconfigure.

Hope it helps.
