On hold... cancel Hold function to activate

This is not an issue with the Walkman player. You can resolve this by sliding the HOLD switch located at the side panel of the Walkman Player (Model specific).
HOLD switch is used to protect the Player against accidental operation. By sliding the HOLD switch in the direction of the ">", all the buttons are disabled. If you slide the HOLD switch to the opposite direction, the HOLD function is released.

I have a Microsoft keyboard I need to use F2 as a function for my game, F2 does not seem to be working cant get it to work. Is there a fix.

I recommend you look at the last function keys. F10 F11 or F12. They typically activate your 'number' pad for use. You'll need to depress the Fn key along with one of these other keys to activate or deactivate the combo

How to cancel HOLD function to activate controls?

By rotating the HOLD switch in the direction of the arrow given on back side, all the buttons are
inoperable.
If you press buttons while the HOLD function is activated, “HOLD” and the current time appears in the display.
If you rotate the HOLD switch to the opposite position, the HOLD function is released or canceled.

Please rotate the hold switch on the back side of your mp3 player opposite to the arrow mark given there.

Please go through the user manual if you are having any doubts.

Hope this helps you
Thank you

ON HOLD - how do I cancel hold function to activate controls

There should be a "hold" button on the side of the player. Sliding it one direction puts it on hold and sliding it in the other direction takes it off hold.

The lock icon is displayed when the key lock function is activated. This can be
activated by sliding HOLD to the left. To unlock, slide HOLD to the right.

Also, here is a manual for it in pdf format http://support.rcaaudiovideo.com/Downloads.ashx?prodid=202&mediaid=599&force=true&file=products/RD2762/media/RD2762_UMEN.pdf
