I have a Xerox XC1255. The copies are coming out nearly all black. I changed toner cartridges, but the problem remains.

That is no good at all, that means the fuser is having physical problems, or the controller of the fuser has failed. Either way it is very bad news... It basically means the printer is going to need repairs. Seeing how old this printer is and what the cost of repairs is sure to be it is hardly worth it. You can get a new laserjet printer for only $125, which is probably less than half of what it will cost in parts alone to fix that Xerox. Here is the printer I speak of or $125:

That is my recommendation for sure. Hopefully you can possibly return the toner you purchased.. if not you can sell it on ebay as being brand new, installed and used less than X number of times. Someone will definitely purchase it from you.

Sorry about the bad news there :(

Sadly this is the case yes... Sorry I recommended a printer there... was thinking it was a printer when I knew all along it was a copier. You can still look into getting it serviced if you wish... Give Xerox a call in the morning to see about the estimate of a repair:1-800-822-2979

Had had printers on the mind today, many many printer issues. Please forgive me, it may be worth looking into repairing this unit, give that number a call and they can help you out - confirm the cost of the repair before just ditching the unit.

The fuser is fine, if it werent you would be getting a fuser code. the xerox i had print all black copies had a broken mirror which was damaged in freight. I own many of these units and look for them to rebuild or part out. Let me know if you owuld like to sell it.

Just purchased a Zerox XC1255 Copier at an Auction. Replaced the toner cartridge because the light was on. The copies seem to have excessive toner in the background of the copies. I am wondering if I...

Could be a bad drum unit. Is the new toner cartridge a refilled? Remanufactured? or Brand New Xerox brand toner? If it is refilled or remanufactured I would run some copies and give it a chance to clear. Sometimes they end up with too much toner in the Developer mix and can be overtoned which causes a general background over the whole page. They should clear up as you run copies, say within 100 pages. Also try manually lightening the copy with the exposure control on the operation panel. If lightening the copy clears all of the background then you need to have the optics cleaned. There are 4 mirrors under the large original glass that need to be cleaned. If all this fails then you are looking at either drum unit or a defective or out of balance toner/developer cartridge.
Good Luck and Thank You for using Fixya.

I have a Xerox Copier XC1045. Our copies are coming out with dark spot on the paper., I change the drum, but still have same problem, even big area has black spot

You may have a worn out heat roller in the fuser.
It is also likely you have a bad toner cartridge . If the spots are gritty then replace the toner cartridge and vacuum out the machine,

Xerox WCP 416 , it showed message replace drum cartridge

It sounds like you are replacing the toner cartidges NOT the Drum Unit. Drum is located behind the toner cartidge and you will see it after removing toner. Pretty common mistake :)

Copies of xerox copier model 5201 almost black

USUALLY Black copies are a Drum grounding problem. I have not seen "black" copies due to old, bad, or otherwise inferior toner... Although, It is a Xerox, LOL
