Question about Washing Machines

1 Answer

Fisher-Paykel washer, about 8 years old, leaving specks of something on clothes. If the "specks" are intact I can lift them off clothes with toothbrush; however if load spins fast, then I get streaks that are hard to clean/remove from clothes. I really don't think it's lint.

Hi just read your posting. Now you mentioned that the specks are not lint.In my service manual it states that if you use fabric softener then this can build up in the bowl and leave black flakes on the clothes.Try filling machine on a hot wash and pour into bowl 1 or 2 cups of automatic dish washing power and leave the machine to soak overnight. In the morning restart cycle and let it go all the way throe. Please reply on how this worked and for further advice.Looking forward to your reply.

I followed your recommendation...the situation with the black flakes has improved, but not totally resolved. However, just to clarify on the automatic dish washing powder...do you mean something like "Cascade?" That's what I used, but was afraid to use 2 cups.

Sewer smell in clothes

The tub is probably pretty dirty. Try cleaning the washer with CLR.

IWL16 leaves black specs on clothes

there could be something stuck in the machine between the two bowls. lifting the lid, removing the ring, agitator and inner bowl will easily check this. if the machine has become loud on spin, and the leak is actually from the bottom (more likely) then it could need seals and bearings replaced. don't run it too much more while leaking, electricity and water don't mix XD

Top load washer about 8 years old- Problem 1 = during the finial rinse/spin the tub will not fulling drain and leaves clothes very wet...had a service call replaced the pump, however stills does not drain...

most likely its the electronic board, easy to change. if you can use a second hand one out of a known working machine- see how that goes- it will probably cure the noise problem

My fisher paykel washer stopped in the middle of a wash leaving the clothes soaking wet and now the power button does not work

Either the computer board is dead OR the pump was on it's way out & took the board with it.If your lucky the pump is just dead & therefore not providing power up to the board, thats the cheaper way to go first.Or you may be up for both.It was probably pumping out at the time when it stopped.

Becomes unbalanced very easily recently

There is a small spiral spring between the bowl and the cabinet, which help hold the bowl away from the out of balance switch.....OOB switch is at the back RHS of the machine, the spring is situated diagonally opposite (LHS Front). Lift lid, remoce 2 round plugs and loosen screws. Carefully lift hob and check the spring!.....I hope this helps...good luck...Nomess

Dirt left in creases after washing clothes. Clothes never look clean

Too many clothes in the load , if it says 5lb then that is the maximum you should fill it with otherwise the clothes do not seperate as they are being agitated

Also

Not enough detergent (Try the old powder types)

Hard Water area (Use a small amount of Washing Soda)

Water level too low , use add water button if fitted

Blocked filter in Fisher & Paykel washing machine top loader

Fisher & Paykel washers do not have lint filters inside the tubs as they are designed to drain away any debris from the wash during the drain cycle.

Fisher and Paykel Washer Leaking

For those with water on floor after wash, check my post on "eco smart won't drain, smells hot". It could be something clogging drainage area at very bottom of the tub. I couldn't see the sock that was stuck in my FP's drain when I looked from the top between the white outer tub and the wash tub--everything looked fine. Then I removed the black motor/white plastic housing piece--Tip back washer and you should see this black electric motor/white housing on bottom. see my post for how to remove and check for plugged drain. it's really pretty easy.

don't know about outer tub holes, but glad i don't have that problem.

i hate my fisher paykel washer/dryer. i can't wait to sell this house--i will leave them here and get a new front load Duette for my next house!
