I have an quite old AC Unit with an 18.6A 230V 60c/s single phase compressor motor MODEL BY0086B112E1 (the sub-lined "8" is badly readable, could be a "3") SERIAL 355350T23 max breaker indicated as 45A (mine is 40A) I probably will need to buy a replacement motor I do not know, as I have no catalogue, if the motor has a Run Capacitor, but I assume this is a 3 HP without RUN, only START capacitor. You surly can get the data. I must choose between buy such new motor or a modern new AC unit, I probaqbly will prefer the former. If so, can you supply the replacement and if you have service in Albuqurque, install it (the latter is not is not a condition Obviously the motot will be of a new one compatible with the old unit, you would tell me the main characteristics NOTE: The slightly smaller AC Unit North, which I repeatedly tested (without PNM present) has in proportion exactly the same discrepancies and problems as the South one. Data: General Electric MODEL BT3730A100A1 (the "3" could be a "B") SERIAL 273251010 (the "0" could be the letter "O" or Q)

It does not look like they still make the motor for this unit, you will want to call GE directly to confirm though. 1-800-626-2005 They are still open yet this evening

However you will be better served by calling these folks tomorrow, they can come service the unit and can tell you if it can be fixed. They also can install a new unit (which you may be better off doing actually). I hope they are close to where you are located:

Replace compacitor on Carrier 5 ton 3 phase AC

Your 3 phase unit should not have a capacitor. I'm guessing it's single phase. If it's a single capacitor than the compressor should not be going to it also. To test the motor, common to start plus common to run should equal the ohms you get between start and run. For instance, 1.2 ohms+ 2.2 ohms= 3.4 ohms. Follow the wiring diagram on the inside of the door, send model number!!

Three Phrase is usually only avail at a commercial
business

You would need a complete additional service to the house just for the AC
They would have to install a new transformer on the pole

I would suggest replacing the motor if that is the only issue,
to single phase 240 volt

Have a 3 phase compressor model vr5-8 want to know if it can be converted to single phase 230 volt and how

A 3phase motor cannot be rewired to run on single phase power. You need a phase converter. A 3-phase motor will only run on 3-phase power, and a phase converter will convert single phase power to 3 phase. Just google phase converter. There are two basic types, electronic and rotary. The rotary type are more powerful and efficient, but lot's more expensive than the electronic ones. Your only other option is to replace the motor with a single phase motor. Good luck.

I have a brand new IR compressor model 2475N7.5 with a 7.5 hp 460v 3 ph motor. is it possible to convert it to a single phase power supply? or should i just exchange it? ... I ordered it thru Northern Tool...

When you google home made 3 phase converters, you will find many ways to make use of 220v single phase instead, however you are limited as to the hp that the motor will produce. If you spin the motor first then apply 220v, the motor will continue to turn at much reduced hp. You need full power to turn a type 30 pump depending on pulley combination/ setup. Best to return the unit and get one that will run on 220v single phase. It will most likely consume more power to do the same work however it would cost a great deal to install 3 phase. Most likely not even available at all. Many years ago, I worked at Sears and happened to see an electrician coming down from roof access of building. He told me that sears had a 3 phase generator being turned by a 220v single phase motor to run an air conditioning unit. He said that it worked quite well. Does not sound cost effective.

AC Breaker trips and AC Fan turns slow.

Sounds like you have a bad capacitor for your squirrel cage fan , now as for the a/c unit sounds like you have a direct short in compressor to ground or leg to leg , check all wiring to make sure that it is not grounding out or melted together.
