My oil indicator light is on and i dont know what the probelm is?

A Chilton manual will tell you that, and other things to keep this fine car going.

Check the code what is wrong.Try to reset the light first see what happen.Need OBDII scanner.

DONT overfill with oil,,thats just as bad as not having enough..Theres two things probably going on..Either you have a bad oil pressure switch,,or you are having a low oil pressure problem..Sometimes i heard that a cheap oil filter can cause that too..Is there any other symtoms,,like excessive ticking when the light comes on,,or does the vehicle act different..If no other symtoms its probably the oil pressure switch,,If you know how to work on cars or know a good mechanic,,you can put a pressure gauge and that will tell ya for sure

there may be a timing belt problem. I dont know about the oil light,Check the oil level, but it needs attention ASAP

If it says "change engine oil" then its just a service light.Check your oil level and oil pressure and reset the service indicator[No Buicks in Ireland so i dont know how to reset it Sorry]

oil pump maybe tired or bearings worn out, try more heavy grade oil, if that helps sounds like bearings, and maybe an overhaul is needed, keep oil changed reg and just drive it

If you have the Driver information Center then you just select engine life cycle and hold down set button, otherwise You turn the igniton on, pump the pedal 3 times within 5 seconds, the change oil light should start flashing indicating it has been reset.
