Question about Samsung PCL6215R 62" Rear Projection Television

1 Answer

Help? Thanks for your reply.. Now I am REALLY concerned with these IC's purchased on Ebay for $4.99 each.. How do I get the heat paste off? I don't want to scrape them and pull them off the blade if there is some solvent that will take them off? I googled something that said to use rubbing alcohol.. Will that work?? Also, where to you recommend that I purchase those IC's now?

The ICs are definately not origional Sanyo ICs at that price. To remove the old heat sink compound I usually just scrape it off with a jacknife it doesnt hurt the heat sink what so ever. as far as the ICs I always refer people to the site that I work for as a repair tech, since I know they are origional ICs as they sell them a little cheaper than most suppliers due to the discount they get for purchaseing alot of ICs so they pass the savings onto the customers as their main business are the service manuals. If you want to check their site out heres the link.

Panasonic cinema vision, model pt-47x54j, I noticed on the back cover that there is a spto for an exhaust fan, can I install one & where do I plug it in?

You really don't need a fan on the CRT rear projection tvs. Because there design to handle high temps. The only part that really breaks down from heat is the convergance ic's. And if your worried about thermo break down I would suggest putting better quality heat transfer paste on the back of the ic's for better heat transfer. Other than that I would not to connect a fan to the electronics of the tv because of the extra load that fan will have on the power supply.

Hi gus derocco,

Thank you for purchasing my service.
Sorry for the late reply, I'm offline upon purchasing my ads...
I would advice you to clean the inside of the unit from dirt/dust build-up using the compressed air can to avoid excessive heat that may caused the subsequent shutdown. You can buy it from your local electronics supply, ebay.com, home depot, etc... Make an extra care upon cleaning most especially on the board, you may used small paint brush with fine/soft bristle to help dusting.

How do i fix a projection hdtv the picture looks pintched in middle red green and blue lines at bottom

IF MODEL NUMBER IS PT47WX53:

If you have gone into the customer menu and CONVERGENCE is skewed and will not adjust:

One or both of the two STK-392-110 convergence chips that this set uses are bad.

The chips are about 2 1 /2 inches wide by 1 1/2 inches tall and are black in color. They are mounted on metal heat sinks2.gif with fins and are side by side--they will have the Stk-392-110 number printed on them in white letters.

If you locate them take a good look at all the light blue resistors in front of them--most are marked 2.2 ohms---look for any that are white or discolored in the middle---if you find one or more YOU HAVE FOUND YOUR PROBLEM.

BOTH chips and any bad resistors need to be replaced and the set adjusted. If you can do this repair you can save a lot of money as you can buy both chips (a pair) on Ebay for about 12 dollars plus shipping2.gif.

I have start to finish instructions for this repair on this type of set.

If you cannot do this repair yourself, shop around your area--most shops charge 300-400 for this kind of repair--I do them here for 200-250 and have done hundreds of them.

If they say it has to go to the shop--keep looking as any good tech can do this repair in your home in about 1 hour.

I have an orange wavey line in the top of the picture and words are double and two different colors.

WS-55859 uses a single STK-393-110 convergence IC--if convergence is out and will not adjust--the IC and any resistors around it (that are bad) need to be replaced and the set adjusted.

This is very common---I have repaired hundreds of these sets---you have two choices---If you can do the repair yourself you can buy the chip on Ebay for about 14 dollars plus shipping. I have detailed instructions for this repair but I am not permitted to post MY email here.

I have done hundreds of these sets and here I charge 200-250 total in the customer's home......

Colors all seem to be overlapping on screen

First: if you have never done this kind of repair--it is a little tricky on this set---WS-65869 uses a Single large convergence IC----with the back off it is located on a large metal heat sink in the middle of the board and foward----The best way to do this is remove the front speaker grill and plate in back of it and you will see the heat sink and IC. This set uses a STK-393-100 Ic----you can purchase it on Ebay from Surburban Electronics for about 13 dollars plus shipping---You really have to slide the whole chassis back a few inchs and remove all the screws that hold the board into the plastic frame-----there are several things you need to do to get the board out of the set--if you need more direct information I am in the San Diego area and you can email me at:

etower.766@netzero.net

This is not a set I would suggest someone try to replace the IC who has never done it before-not the easiest set to do this repair on--I have done dozens of them and there are several places in the procedure where you need to be careful. If you manage to get the board out you also need to look at all the blue resistors in front of the IC( 3.9 ohm and blue in color---)if any of them are discolored they will also have to be replaced---they are protection parts in case the IC Shorts.

If this has been helpful give me a vote and if you need assistance email me.

Need to find a place that carries authentic Ic's (STK392-560)

I just replaced mine. I got them from ebay. Get the sanyo originals. The numbers in the upper corner don't matter. Just the STK part. DON'T get cheap ones. Get actual Sanyo originals. Should cost around $15 or so may $18 after shipping. Don't forget to check the Pico fuses too. They are the yellow resistor looking pieces under the IC Heat sinks. They are 3.15 on the IC's and 5a on the power board. I can send pics if you need them. Good luck.

Mitsubishi TV Model #ws65869 Blinking Green light

Sorry for the late reply I just got up.

From what I understand of your problem it is most likely a blown capacitor or main IC. Unless I can open up the unit and test the IC's and capacitors I can not be really sure which is why I hardly answer questions about TV''s as they are hard to troubleshoot without the unit in front of you. Ive found a site that can help you via a service manual since I could not find the exact service manual for you from my manual book. The site also has the parts that you will need if ever im right and it is the capacitor or IC. As for the IC's by experience is hard to test without an Oscope but you can do it by gradually eliminating the problem, again you will have to refer to the service manual regarding that. By the way the capacitors I mean is the one that goes to the main module as that is what powers the controls for the TV. the green light is just the "pilot light" which means you have power to the TV but the power is not going past the capacitors to the main controls or the main IC. So simply put the problem can be the capacitors (Which is what you check first) if they are ok then look at the IC via using a service manual. You can use a multitester for the capacitor first if they are dead then just change them and you should be ok. Let me know what happens or updates ill reply to them as well.

yes the white paste is heat sink compound which transfers heat. Be careful using ICs from places that your not sure of as most sell cheap chinese knock off and not the origional Sanyo units . STK ICs are made by sanyo, but be aware when you use cheap knockoff chips as they can short out usually within minutes and cause alot of extra problems such as causing resistors to go open. I just helped a guy last week that spent 5.99 on new ICs installed them and proceeded to burn every resistor in his convergence circuits when the new ICs he purchased on line shorted out. Let me know how you make out.
