If you could let me know the problem with more details, I can help you better, like, operating system installed on the laptop, model number, etc.. but on most laptops, the settings to disable and enable touchpad is in the mouse settings, under the Control Panel. Open control panel, double-click the mouse icon and make the necessary changes with the touchpad.

If you need further help, or if you have problem doing this, let me know with more details.

Good luck.

Thanks for using FixYa.

Hi you can not, you just plug your mouse in, and it should work, touch pad will still be active, but if using a mouse it should be ok to use both

Touch pad

The easiest way is to connect a mouse and use it to go to the control panel and mouse and touchpad settings. It can be any USB mouse and they are available for less than ten dollars or even free if borrowed from a friend for the time it takes to correct the settings.

Laptop Touch Pad will not work

if you plug usb keyboard onto your laptop it will probably turn the touch pad off.
If no other keyboard is attached there is usually a switch to turn off the touch pad.
also if you attach a mouse this may disable the touchpad so you dont move the mouse pointer when you are typing

My toch pad is not working properly please help me to solve this problem the pointer is not moving on the screen

Did you swtich from touchpad to regular mouse recently?

If not plug in a mouse and go to control pannel and click on mouse icon.

See if the touch pad is turned off in that section, if it is turn it back on and unplug your mouse

If its on then reinstall the touch pad driver from your manufacture driver page.

If it still does not work you may have a defective touch pad that needs replacing

I hope this helps

If it is not a normal mouse then From the Control Panel->Add Remove programs remove the mouse drivers. and reboot the laptop. Else go to Control Panel->System->Hardware->Device manager. Remove the mouse that is installed there. DO NOT REMOVE THE TOUCH PAD. And compute happily ever after.

My toshiba laptop cursor doesnot move when i touch the tray pad

Hi!

I had the same problem after my fat cat sat on my keyboard. This is how I fixed it. At the top of the keyboard there is a F9 key. If you look closely at this key, it also has two pictures of the mouse pad. This key is a toggle that turns the mouse pad on and off. Down near the lower left corner of the keyboard is a key marked FN. Hold down the FN key and press the F9 key. That will turn the mouse pad back on.
