Hello,

The problem with the television might be either there is a power problem or a component in it got burnt in it.

Yes it can be repaired. First you need to know what exactly is wrong with the television.

Try to ensure the cables are properly plugged then turn it on to see if there would be any sign of it being powered. If the power light blinks for some time and goes off, then it means there is a power problem and need to be fixed.

If it does not bring up any light or symbol it is being powered up, then it means its not receiving power from the source, therefore, you need to check the cable the is being plugged.

You can as well have a repair man run a further diagnosing on the television.

Do not panic, no matter the fault the television might develop, it can be fixed.

Take care

If this is the 42EP24S TV the repair is quite easy - remove the back cover and replace 3 boards and an EEPROM, replace the cover and then program the set via the remote control.

If you can get the repair kit (TV-3940-01) from SEARS, get it.

You can get a kit (6871VSNB03E) from Rich-Tech for $198 plus shipping. It does not have the EEPROM though.

Wow that is a lot of money in any currency. Coming from England its not uncommon to be paying £200+ to repair a tv like yours. If you could give a little more information then maybe I could narrow it down for you. You say its gone black but does your standby light still come on? If you try to turn it on with the remote control does the stanby light flash quickly then re-appear? Or does it come out of standby and have a black screen? Can youm get sound through a dvd player but no picture? If you can answer these questions who knows maybe he will do it cheaper if you supply the part yourself!!! Dont think he will but worth a try :-) please post again.

Your PS2 is broken it would be better to check out how much a new one would be or look up online how much it would be to fix it. If you go to get it repaired then just give it to the electronics people and say i dont know whats wrong wit it but also get ready to pay near $70 for getting it fixed.

Sounds like the Z-sustain board went bad. You will need the board replaced so make sure you find an LG authorized servicer.

It's the Y-Sustainer problem. However, they normally change the Y-Sus and Z-sus boards at the same time. It's a costly repair.

Your X and Y circuit boards are bad. It might require the replacement of the power supply as well. This is not uncommon for LG/Zenith plasmas to have this issue. Not a do it yourself repair.

The TV should be under warranty. Send back. Sounds like the panel is faulty (half the value of the set).
