About six months ago I reset my hdtv to factory spec and it repaired the problem I had with my sound. Now I want to rest my tv and don't remember how I did it. It is the same problem I had six months ago and it worked fine. Could you help me with this. Joe.

Does it visually indicate the sound is going down? You have no speakers or sound system attached?

It definitely may fix the problem. So wait the sound does turn down for a bit, but then turns itself right back up?

Have you tried taking the batteries out of your remote, and leaving them out, then adjust the volume manually with the buttons on the TV? Same result? Also please just reply / comment once...

    Thanks

It should be, do you have any open input ports on the TV? They should be red white and yellow, or red green and blue...

That blu ray player should have an HDMI output port that you can use to hook into that HDMI port on your TV.. it carries both sound and video so you just need that one cable. You can use the red white and yellow but the picture quality is going to be far less than if you use HDMI. You probably just need to go get an HDMI cable if you don't have one, hook it into that port, go to that input on your TV with the remote (input / source button, whichever your remote has) and you are good to go.

    Thanks

Yes that is very possible, and sounds likely in your case.

    Thanks

Toshiba 40RV52U TV has just started cycling off & on. Is this a problem with the power board?

Fault at its main digital board. Short circuited component/s at it. Contact any service technician; or the authorized service center. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Surf the site with patience. Pull up older posts.

In most cases, the main board might have to be replaced. If so, a software [firmware] update too might be necessary.

Toshiba 40rv52u remote control

If just using one remote to try have it tested----many digital cameras in a dim light will react with a flash on the display screen when remote is pointed at them and buttons pressed.

Also try putting remote against remote receiver lens on front of set--if it reacts close up---the remote receiver in the set is bad---can be same if no reaction at all.

Either the remote or the receiver---one or the other.

A last thought here is some sets (read owner manual) have a feature to lock out the remote which can be engaged by accident.

Toshiba LCD TV 19Av505DG how to unlock the side menu

Hello
To unlock the TV do the following:

Disconnect the AC power for at least one minute to reset the clock.
Adjust the volume to the minimum using the Volume down button on the front of the unit.
Press and hold the Volume down button on the front of the unit and the 0 button on the remote control at the same time, holding them down for at least 10 seconds.
The user menu will appear with the V-Chip cursor blinking.
Press the ENTER key on the remote control and the NEW PASSWORD menu will appear.
Enter your new password.

The V-Chip is bypassed by holding the zero key on the original remote hand unit, and at the sane time holding down the volume down on the front of the TV set. This should reset the oide so you can enter a new one.
OK.

What are the best color settings for a toshiba 40rv52u

saultoman,
First set your picture setting back to their defaults. Now adjust each setting up and down all the way to learn what they do.

Then try the following:
1) Leave your back light at 50%.
2) Adjust the brightness until blacks look jet black them back some.
3) Set the sharpness up until it looks like too much then back a bit; you can never have too much.
4) Add only a little color as most people like a little more color than what the TV is set to show.
5) Now adjust the contrast up until it no longer looks as if your are watching TV with sunglasses on; don't be afraid to go to 100%.
6) Now work the back light only a a small amount.

It can take some people a few days to tweak the settings. Remember to right down each setting on there value for future reference after getting the picture to what you like.

There's 4 horizontal white tiny lines appear on screen to make the picture become 4 equal parts from top to bottom with many horizontal lines. My TV is Toshiba Lcd(40RV52U)

You have failure/weakening in the vertical section , the retrace lines appear due to the change in the freq.
Check out small value capacitors in this section. confirm by shorting parallel with the right polarity. Unless you are familiar with electronics please do not attempt unless with help. the fault is not very serious and could be attended with low expense.

My toshiba problem.

You may have bad T-CON board, try cooling it with small fan blowing on the vents of the TV.

Our Son hit a plastic ball into the face of our new Toshiba 40RV52U LCD display. We now have an area that looks like a splat and a hole in the picture. Is it possible to repair or replace the LCD screen?...

Hi,
unfortunately it can't be repaired the entire panel will need to be replaced, most times the cost of the panel is as much or more then the cost of the tv. My son broke our 42" lcd after had it for only 3 weeks! Not covered under warranty...we had to replace tv. FYI there are companies that sell a clear protective screen for LCDs I bought one and it works great! One such website is www.tvarmor.com but you can google and find alternatives.

Toshiba (Model : 36A43) - volume goes down automatically

I am having same problem on 32 inch same problem. After playing with board with no results,I tried front buttons and found that if I held the power button in ever so slighItly as not to turn it off, it fixed problem which is the micro on/off switch, I removed the switch and used the remote and everything is back to normal, I am about to insall a used micro switch after I finish typing this but I am sure this will clear up volume problen and menu going crazy problem if not I will just leave micro switch out and use the remote, and I will get back to this board only if that micro switch still causes the problem, so if I don't post in next hour the problem is fixed and I'm more than glad to help.
