Unfortunately you do not put what make and model this is, but for most copiers there are two things that cause this usually. when the optics start to get dirty the edges appear to darken first. remove the glass and clean the mirrors under the glass and both sides of the glass, the other is when the photoconductor (drum) starts to age it to will darken the edges also. Try using the photo mode if this copier has one. that may get you more life and better quality. If it is the drum you should have a tech do this, there may be settings that are needed when replacement is done... hope that helps

Black edges

take out a internal report and check if it also has the same problem. If yes then u have to check the optics for any obstruction or foreign matter.have u changed ur toner recently ,if yes then it could also be a problem if it is not genuine .How much has ur drum yielded.check that also.

Sorry my printer is a Canon MF8180C laser and I could not find any information in what you provided to solve the blck marks around the edges of the page

Are the black marks down both sides of the page and if so what shape are they? Are they a sharp edge black mark or faint feathered mark?
You say the black marks are around the edges of the page, does that mean all 4 edges?
Also is it when you print from your computer or when you copy using the document feeder?
There are 3 possible causes but I need to know the answers to my questions.

WHEN PRINTING FROM CS3 ILLUSTRATOR DIRECTLY TO OUR EPSON 4800, OUR EDGES SEEM TO BE SLIGHTLY JAGGED, AND NOT SHARP LIKE IT USED TO BE WITH FAST FILMS - ANY FIX?

Try reducing the amount of ink coverage. For instance, instead of using Rich Black (60/60/60/100) try using True Black (0/0/0/100).

Have you changed print materials lately? The amount of ink coverage could be causing the edges of your material to roll up and prevent the the ink from being sprayed properly.

The screen says the Paten glass needs to be cleaned. What is the paten glass? Also when copies are made a black line is showing up on the edge of the copy.

Hi,
platen glass means that you need to clean the copy glass - glass where you put the originals for copying.
If you have an auto document cleaner there is also small glass on left side of "platen glass" wich is seen when you open the copy machine cover or dadf.

The black line is probably from dirt on copy glass, I pressume because courectour liquid ( most common ). use some stronger detergent or wd-40 to disolve the dirt and clean with glass detergent and dry it.

If you still have the black line try to print something from machine. If you do not have it on print its the copy glass problem - clean it - again.

Pls.rate

Paper jam at fixing unit when copying page with black border and complete tx fax function the tx report will comes out

Does the black go all the way to the very edge.ALL copiers have a void area around the edges of the copy....to prevent the copy from sticking to the fuser roller, which operates at nearly 400 degrees while copying. The void area can be as much as 6 mm all the way around, that is to say, all 4 edges.without the void area, the copy will always jam at the fuser or fixing unit.Good Luck

Dark edges

It depends... never use a Reman cart in these machines... only use sharp...especially if the machine is under warranty.

Does this happen when,
Using the Doc Feeder
When making copies from the Glass
Or when you print from a computer (assuming you print from a PC)

If you print something and this happens then it is inside the machine
Probably toner or developer dumping...

Take a few pieces of large white paper and cover the entire glass surface... make a copy is the line there? If so see the answer above... if not then close the top and make a copy with no paper on the glass... is that black line there.. If so then your top needs adjustment...

One more test
If you make a copy using the doc feeder, this black line only occurs when making copies with the doc feed, clean the **** glass, and try again...
