Insert the Recovery disc then restart and boot from the CD/DVD drive. Should get the prompt "Press any key to boot from disc". If not, change the boot order in BIOS.

OK I bought an acer ast180 loaned it to a friend he put xp on it I am trying to retore to factory but when I boot and use alt+f10 it still tries to go into xp

When a new operating system is installed over another one, it completely overwrites the previous operating system, making it impossible to use the first operating system that was on your machine, even if you try to restore to factory defaults.

I would like to restore to factory conditions but do not have a restore disk. Can I do this manually without a disk?

You can do it if they included your restoration hardware on a separate drive with your pc. Sometimes insead of including actual disks, they install it on a separate partician that you can access. If I were you I would go to the E Machines website and click on support then enter your serial number and information and download your retoration hardware from there.

I wanna know how to reset my laptop back to factory settings Gateway windows 7 model# NEW90 NV59C

usually if you dont get a recovery disc with your laptop you would then use those discs to reload the system from scratch. the other is that you would have to create recovery discs as soon as you started using the laptop. if the sales person did not make you aware of it then he is a very bad sales person. the other solution would be to go to the web-site of the manufacturer of the laptop and under the support section or drivers and downloads you will find drivers and recovery disc image or iso or a self extracting file which you will then have to copy to disc then use the created disc to reload the system

CAN I RETORE TO FACTORY SETTINGS ON MY PC? IF SO HOW? THANKS

Yes, you can, but it may be TONS more work than you want to do, when compared to changing exactly the items you desire to change.

the process of restore factory settings is to perform a system restore, You loose all of your data and personal settings, you have to reload all of your programs, really way too much work in absence of major problems of some kind.

My insprion 1525 does not have the repair computer option in the advance boot options...how can I reboot the hard drive to factory settings?

Hello,

If you have the retore disk, this will be your best option. Not only will it restore your system but also put the recovery partition back on your hard drive.

My husband just gave me his HP pavillion m7350n and it has alot of programs i dont want. What is the easies way of go back to the stuff that came with the HP. I guess i want to know how to do a recovery is...

Most systems come with a recovery drive on their hard disk. Smone times it takes the last drive letter before the CD-ROM drive. If that is the case with you, locate the drive by
1. Double click my computer icon on your desktop
2 Locate the drive that has the recovery data
3 Run the recovery
Make sure you read the instratuctions on the sreen and follow the steps you are asked to follow on the recovery wizard.

This will retore your PC to the factory setting.
But note that most factory seting come with evalution copies of original software like Microsoft Office, etc you may need to get the licenses for these software after the retore to make them genuie.

Retore my aspire m5100 to factory settings

You have 2 options to restore your Acer to factory defaults :

A)
  1. Hit the Delete key when you see the ACER logo. This will bring you to the set up screen.
  2. Scroll until you find the "Load Default Settings" option, then hit Enter.
  3. A screen will pop up to confirm that this is what you want to do. type Y and hit Enter again.
  4. Make sure to save the changes.

B)

If your computer does not have a built in recovery partition, you will have to order the recovery disk from Acer.

If you have windows recovery disk you can do it.

For that put that recovery disk in cd dvd rom then when you power up press F2 or "del" key to enter in bios settings then go to boot option set as your cd or dvd rom first boot device then save all settings .
then restart it then it boot with your disk then you get screen "presss any key to boot from cd " then followthe instruction if you have any confusion please let me know.
Thanks

Installer for my laptop empowering technology for acer 5910G

Acer (all acers) have a back up installer.... It is a retoration program that often came on a CD or DVD but the latter models have it stored on the hard drive. You should check to see if there is an option called MAKE BACK-UP CD's OF YOUR ACER ( something like that) then you can make a full set of CD's or DVD's (usually about 4 DVD's) before you uninstall anything

My new gateway computer does not recognize the cd/dvd drive. I cannot set up a retore cd, download music or dvd's.

Try checking your CMOS, press "del" upon power on to access startup selection, make sure that secondary IDE is enabled. You can also check if your cd drive is detected.
