SOURCE: removing the assembly from the trans-axle

I decided to call the local/regional non-official Toyota repair business on the off-chance that they would tell me how and why. They were very kind and obliged me. There is a serious amount of resistance on the driver-side axle due to a 'round' wire circlip embedded in a groove in the spline-end that is in the transaxle. It will release if enough prying/wedging effort is applied to the black cv housing...with care not to damage the aluminum transaxle case. I used any convienent bolt-head in the case as a fulcrum, and a stout prybar/flat-blade screwdriver as a lever. With a flushed-red face, a deep gutteral grunt, and a mighty heave, the axle gave up the fight and slid out like a good bowel movement. I regret that I could not use your services, but I have no credit cards. And the fact that $9 at this time is about enough gas for me to run for a week. Every penny counts out here in the wilds of western Montana. Thanks for being there, regardless. I will refer to you in the future when I am back on my feet. Warm regards. Michael aka peterjmoose.

SOURCE: I have a 2002 toro

It is an overflow tube. If the carburetor gets turned upside down the fuel will drain out of it. Also if the carburetor is flooding it will run out of this tube as well. It is a safety feature on certain engines.
I hope this answers your question.

The hydro Transmisson Is not the easyest to repair. That is probably way they said that. plus the labor whould have been $350 to $500. So most shop won't repair them.
Find A break down on line so you can see what your getting into.

I'm trying to remove the "hub" from the front axle because the rotor was rusted to it and a new one won't fit "true". I need a picture or exploded diagram to understand why it...

Your hub is a complete unit including wheel flange and bearing. Thje axle passes through the assembly. You will find three twelve point 13mm bolts that go into the rear of the hub through the steering knuckle.
To remove the assembly, Loosen those three bolts, run them out part way and use a socket you don't want (you will destroy it) Put the socket on each bolt and use a heavy hammer to drive the assembly out of the knuckle. Alternate sides so it does not bind. use lots of solvent on the hub parting surface.
One tip: Disconnect the tie rod end so the assembly is easy to turn from side to side.
The hub assembly is only rebuildable in a factory. It is replaced as a unit. While you have it apart, always check the axle universal for binding or play. If you remove the axle for any reason, when putting it back in don't drag it on the bottom of the tube, The seal is inside the tube next to the gear set. Dragging the axle will knock the seal out.

AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION WON´T MOVE

That trans is an RE4FO2A or V and check the fluid level,if the fluid level is good, check the axles to make sure they are seated all the way in the trans, and that the axle's CV joints aren't broken.Other than that, likely an internal problem with the forward clutches, torque convertor,or pump assembly.

Can a shade tree mechanic change the clutch in '97 mitsubishi 3000?

Removal (3000GT AWD)
1. Remove air cleaner cover, air hoses and vacuum pipe. Remove air cleaner, intake hose, battery, battery
tray and washer tank.
2. Disconnect transaxle control cables and speedometer cable. Raise and support vehicle.
3. Remove both inner fender splash shields. Remove clutch tube bracket and disconnect clutch release
cylinder (including clutch damper assembly on FWD models) and wire aside. Support transaxle assembly
with jack and disconnect upper transaxle mount. Remove mount, bracket, plug and stoppers.
4. Remove transaxle assembly upper coupling bolts. Disconnect tie rod ends and lower arm ball joints.
Remove right support member, starter cover (if equipped) and starter.
5. Remove left side bearing bracket mounting bolts and pry left axle shaft from transaxle. Wire left axle
shaft and inner shaft assembly aside. Pry right axle shaft from transaxle and wire aside.
6. Remove front bank side and rear bank side transaxle stays. Support transaxle assembly with a
transmission jack. Remove transaxle assembly lower coupling bolts and lower transaxle from vehicle.
7. Insert a clutch alining tool to prevent pressure plate and clutch disc from falling. Loosen pressure plate
bolts gradually in a crisscross pattern to avoid warping pressure plate flange. Remove pressure plate and
clutch disc.
