HP LaserJet 4000tn Printing a Black Line

This is a message that I received from one of my customers:
"Need to have the HP LaserJet 4000TN looked at by local support. The printer is printing but printing an extra edge on one side of the paper. "
The printer is printing a black line down the left side of the paper. Does the print cartridge just need to be changed or refilled?
How do I solve this problem?
Thank you,
Wyatt L. Thorpe

I actually just cleaned it really well and that fixed the problem. Thank you for your response though. I know that replacing the toner cartridge will definitely be next. Thank you for your help.

Your fuser is bad. Easily replaceable. Two screws and it is out.
Problem will stop.

If the line was in the MIDDLE of the page (not on the edge) then it would be the cartridge.

Change the toner cartridge, refilling will not solve the problem.

My HP Laser Jet 4000TN printer makes a line along the right side of each sheet (about 2 inches in from the edge of the paper). How do I get rid of this?

3 possible options:

1 - Swap/ Replace the toner cartridge as it may be leaking
2 - the transfer roller may need to be replaced or cleaned(This is the roller you see once you remove the toner cartridge) easy way to tell is how much black toner you have in the bay of the machine where the toner cartridge sits
3 - the fuser needs to be replaced. IF the toner was leaking it can contaminate the fuser which will burn the black line into paper.

Can I print to my HP Laserjet 4000TN printer wirelessly?

Only by plugging it in to either a wireless hub, or access point.

I don't think there was a wireless IO card for this printer.

Papaer Jam

its not a simple process, but here are the basics.

1. remove the upper cover, 4 screws and the part that releases the toner is connected to the cover.
2. remove all side covers.
3. remove the manual tray
4. remove the tray 1 upper assembly, 2 long screws the go straight down, one on left side near front, one on right side, you will see it when you look straight down from the top.
5. remove about 5-6 big tapping screws, and unplug cable from left side and 1 from right side.

you should be able to see the jammed paper.

this is not that easy, so if you dont feel extremely comfortable, dont do it.

HP Laserjet 4000 Error

It is asking for an envelope. Check your page setup and/or your tray configuration. Also make sure your paper stops in the tray is set at the type of paper it is for.
