Ipaq 3650 I replaced the touch panel only. It is the glass gover with a sensative plastic sheet ans a connector on it. four wire leed and can only go in one way. the only number I see on the original is "94 HIT AR B5". I purchased the replacement from AX micro solutions "1paq h3600 & h3700 series digitizer/touch panel" HP1023. Thanks for your help. Bill

Y have a similar case, after replacing the LCD screen of one of my customers. The image is upside down and mirrored. We are going to test a new panel.
I'll let you know.

Could you write down the part number for the old and new screens to check for compatibility?

If I understand correctly your problem, the touch screen of your PDA is not working.

Well, this is a common IPAQ failure. When happens, the only options to repair it are:

1. Soft reset of the PDA. If still does not work, then go to next step.

2. Replace the top digitizer glass.

It requires a very skillful person to do it. If you have not experience with fixing electronic devices, then I do suggest you to send it to repair.

Besides that is necessary to open it, you will require a soldering iron, and desolder the digitizer part and remove it from the LCD screen, which if is not done properly with the right tools, it's easy to damage the LCD screen assembly.

Also, if it's not opened right, is possible to damage permanently the mainboard if is bent or warped.

Also, even though there are a lot of cheap digitizer replacement parts on-line (mainly from China), they have a compatibility issue that prevents to use them in the RX3715 (or RX3115) PDAs.

I have nothing against Chinese manufactured parts, but after buy around 10 digitizers in the last couple of years for different Ipaq PDAs, I found out that only 3 worked fine, so I know what I am talking about.

Best regards,

Screen

Firstly this depends on whether the touch screen is cracked or just the outer layer is scratched badly.  If you see cracked glass or a liquid in the screen then the touch screen is broken. I have personally had this happen to one of my PDAs and after doing some research www.ipaqrepair.co.uk is the best bet for getting an ipaq repaired reliably.  However touch screens are very expensive.  I just looked at the site and a new screen for your PDA is $227.  I believe that is the price just for the part but not totally sure.  Your best bet would either be replace it yourself maybe buying a broken PDA of the same screen type on ebay and try to replace it yourself (which is very difficult) or just upgrade and buy a new PDA.  However no matter what happens I strongly suggest buying an aluminum case.  They are relatively cheap and will save you in the long run.  The invisible screen protectors are nice as well against scratching.  If you have any questions don't be afraid to contact me.  And by the way this is my first post so any feedback would be great reguardless.

Touch Screen does not work

When did you do this? is it days long? try using low heat settings on a hair blow dryer. If there is no VISIBLE excess liquid there it may have damaged the sensors on your screen while you were cleaning it. Hope this helps.

Replace Screen on HP6515

Ok, to disassemble - remove four screws on back (#7 torx required). Then remove battery cover, battery, and SIMM card. Next peel the (on mine lower left portion of the) Warranty Void if removed sticker, and using a tiny phillips head screw driver, remove the screw revealed. Next, slide a thumbnail or plastic flatbldae screw drriver around the seam on the sides of the unit, to release the two pressure tabs on the sides and top. Then pull the top away, eventually freeing the bottom. Now, there is a system board exposed. There are three screws (tiny phillips again) two on the bottom and one at the top that can be removed, allowing the system board to be removed. Note that there are two ribbon connectors on one side - I didn't remove these. There's also a small plastic connection I did remove, then the system board will remove to the side allowing access to the back of the screen and keyboard assemblies.

Ipaq wont open

The iPAQ will keep cycling through this alignment screen until it registers all five points correctly. Try cleaning the screen with a micro cloth and if necessary a little conventional glass cleaner. Then careful click on each of the X being careful to just click the center and not drag the stylus. Even the smallest movement across the screen will cause the registration process to fail. If that doesn?t work try doing a cold boot and restart the process.

Internet Explorer for IPaq 3650

I'm not sure if Pocket PC Explorer is like the full Explorer version, but if you go to the Internet Options Control Panel, select the Advanced Tab, Scroll Down to the Multimedia Options and there are selection options for showing pics, playing sounds, etc. Hopefully, Pocket Explorer is similar and all you need to do is activate the option to show pics. Good Luck!
