Question about Kenwood eXcelon X1200M Car Amp

1 Answer

My subwoofer doesn't receive power, all amp fuses are fine, amp powers on, remote wire and rca wires are connected and intact. Before it stopped working all together the woofer would cut out and after turning the car off and then back on the woofer worked for a few minutes before cutting off again. During the time when the woofer cut out the protection light on the x1200m amp was on. Now the protection light doesn't come on at all and there is no smell from the amp.

If you are getting power to the amp, try this....Find a small speaker, unhook your sub and wire speaker to amp. Turn on your system at a low volume....If the other speaker is playing through amp, then your sub is shot.....If the small speaker doesnt work, then its either your channel is gone on the amp or the rcas have quit off off your head unit.

Disconnect all speaker connections and rca cables. Leave power, ground and remote wires intact. Try turning on again. If you still have a protection light your amp is faulty. Hopefully you have warranty D.A thumbs up would be greatly appreciated if this answer is helpful to you. nitro-bmw-486-cuts-out-when-turn-volume-lv2kkrmxrai4iihdvw4m3np2-1-0.jpg

I would suspect if the amp is known to be good, that someplace you have a shorted speaker wire... possibly someplace the insulation is cut through or maybe you have a bad connection with frayed strands shorting out the speaker. Use an ohmmeter to check the resistance between each set of speaker leads and then to ground.

I have no sound to my woofers they were working just fine then stoped?? what is the problem

Check the fuses on the inline and the amp(s). Then check the power and ground for solid connections and the remote if needed. By process of elimination you should be able to find the fault in the wiring. If all checks on the above the problem would have to lye in the RCA's or speaker wiring. Also be sure to have the proper resistance in your subs (ie.2ohm,4ohm) and that the amp can handle that resistance.

No sound..amp has power to it

Hello eric_sodergu,

**First thing is verifying that the powerlight is lite up, this shows that it is receiving power and is grounded properly.

**Next thing you need to ensure is that the remote wire is connected properly on both the head unit and the amp.

**Third Make sure the RCA wires are all connected properly, try jiggling them around on the amps end to make sure there not just shorting out.

**Check all fuses related to the amp to make sure all the channels are working properly. (Applys to amps with multiple channels and fuses)

If all these things are fine, then the sub could very well be blown. Did you have it up loud before it stopped working ? You said it was working fine then just went all quiet, did the head unit power down as well ?

Post back with any further info or questions so that I can assist you further.

No Soound on Subwoofer from Yamaha RX-V363

I have the same setup. Are you going out of the subwoofer output of the reciever? (it's purple.) then into the LFE jack of the subwoofer (also purple.) That's the only connection you need besides power. If you have those right, try using your cable for something else to make sure the cable is good. Is the indicator of the subwoofer green? Mine comes on with the reciever. Good luck!

Subwoofer makes a loud bass machine gun noise when powered up

Well, I have the same problem and I would think it has something to do with the RCA-connections. If I power up my head unit while I have my main fuse for the amp's removed and then replace the fuse as the head unit is already playing music (thus putting out a current through the RCA-connections) it works just fine. But if I just power up my stereo with the fuse in, my subs go all crazy. I guess it has something to do with disruptions in the rca cable. Maybe they are drawn too close to some power cables or speaker cables? Good luck!

How do I hook up amplifier?

Well make sure you have enough power wire, remote wire, RCA's make sure they are long enough as well. Now depending on wattage the amp can kick out determins on the power wire size. Run a wire bout a foot from the battery + terminal and add a in-line fuse (once again depends on the power of the amp) now run the rest of the power wire to the back. (along with the remote wire and RCA's) Now hook up your RCA's on the sub output, (If no sub output hook up to the rear) this will connect to your amp RCA's input. Now for the remote wire, wire it up to the BLUE remote wire or power intena, this will go to your remote terminal on the amp. from thier all thats left is your speaker... Hope this was helpful
