I'm having an intermittent problem. When I power up and get into applications the laptop goes in and out of battery mode. It sometimes will not keep charge. I can wiggle the rear power connection and I can see it flicker back to AC power. I have replaced power cord and think about replacing battery. Any suggestion or Ideas?

Re: Acer Aspire 3610
The problem is that the power inlet jack has a bad connection on the motherboard. The way to resolve this is to remove the motherboard from the laptop and resolder the jack. This is not a repair I would suggest for the novice. If this is not repaired soon, further damage can be done to the motherboard that may not be easily fixable. Please have this repaired soon.

If the power LED is lit before connecting to your laptop and then goes out as soon as you connect to your laptop, then you either have a short circuit in the power supply module of your laptop, or you battery is causing the fault.
Remove the battery and try again. If it powers up the battery needs replacing. If the problem is still the same then you need someone to look at the power supply module in the laptop
It sounds like your backlight is damaged.
On some units this can be replaced on its own. On others, it requires the entire LCD to be replaced.
I'll see if I can find out which this is, in your case, and find you a part number.
How old is your battery? When you use your laptop, do you run it on just the battery or do you use your a/c adapter and battery? If you're going to use your laptop for an extended period of time, it's recommended to remove the battery and run off of a/c power alone. This helps to extend the life of your battery. Over time, using both a/c and battery will cause your battery to charge/discharge, which dramatically shortens the life of the battery.
You may simply have a dead battery.
Another alternative is that you have a bad power unit, which is what the a/c adapter plugs into on your laptop. My guess is that you most likely have a dead battery.
When you turn on your laptop do you see the P.O.S.T screen or it just remains blank? and also while booting up do you get any beep sound?
Try to boot your computer in Safe Mode by Tapping F2 (or Del in few laptops) key after pushing Power Button.

do you have power ? if no, check your power outlet and ac adapter first, if both of them are ok, it could be your motherboard.
if you have power but no display, this is called no post.
reseat your memory. if still not working, use 1 memory and try to put it in different ram slot. and if this is still not working, your motherboard is bad
