My Philips DVD985 DVD recorder gives error codes AB FFCF2F and AB F0C2EF. What does this mean? Is it a disk error or a player error?

My philips dvdr1000 shows only ab f092as when i am power on

The meaning of specific error codes is known only to Philips themselves, but 'AB' errors are to do with the analogue board circuitry and unfortunately this signals that the machine may require a factory repair. However you have nothing to lose by performing a firmware upgrade, which cured the problem for some.

Make sure you use the correct firmware, depending on whether your machine is a Mk I or II. Note that ff9o is the only firmware you can use for the former.

Record errors

If your dvd player only supports dvd+r discs then that is the only way it will record. It will only record once onto the dvd-rw and, since it doesn't support the re-writables, it won't be able to use this function. This is the most likely reason for the first error. The second problem is a little confusing. Is it when you are trying to record on dvd-rs or dvd-rws that it says it can't record? I hope this post was helpful (for the first error, anyway). Good luck! I hope everything works out! Sincerely, Der Strom

Error message e4 54040990

It may mean that the disk is no longer usable due to scratches or other over-use reasons. If a new disk, it may mean you're using the wrong brand. This machine works on recommended brands, and the brand of DVD+RW that has proven to be workable on this device, and that I use with no problems, is VERBATIM. Hope this helps you solve what's wrong.

Place a dvd in and comes up disk error, and this is also a clean disk

have you tried using a lens cleaning disk, the laser optics might be fouled up, also check your disk again for fingerprints, as that can also give out a disk error

Cant play philips dvdr3430v recorded discs on another dvd player or pc

the only solution to play your recorded disk on other DVD-players to "Finalise" the disk, it means you will be not able to record any other thing on that disk. This means you "close" your disk, furter recording will be not possible on that disk. I tried, it works. PC also will recognise that disk. You will find not the mormal "VIDEO_TS" and "AUDIO_TS" directories on the disk, but players will play it.

Power on no response

Here is the link to the manual if you need it; best i could come up with is: unplug machine, then plug it back in while holding down "open/close" and "stop" (Page 49) run through the diagnostics as explained on page 51. This link below gives you available drivers and updates, try updating/reinstalling the driver just in case it is a software issue; If you still have no luck, please post again. Hope this helps :)
