Floating lines in picture - Projection Televisions

I just bought a new samsung 32 inch HD LCD TV. Just had cable installed and am seeing opaque floating lines slowly floating up the screen. Certain channels are worse than others. Don't have any lines when computer is connected to TV monitor. I'm also not using an HDMI cord. Is this a cable, tv, or connection problem?? any help would be appreciated...If the problem is the TV, I must return it immediately so time is of the essence!!!

    thx!!

"Floating lines" usually caused by bad cable signal. Try playing a dvd or tape. If lines are gone, tighten all cable connections. If lines are there, you could need convergence repair if any colored shadows or ghosts are visable around on screen lettering. Hope it's some help anyway.

When I turn on my rear projection tv & the tv is cold the color will float, the picture will shake side ways for about 15 minutes.what can I do to fix the proble?

You did not provide a model so I am not sure of the type of set u have. Wheather it be CRT, LCD, DLP or LED. My 1st guess regarding "color float" is possably the convergence board/section of your set. And the warming up issue could be the result of cold solder connections and/or faulty caps on 1 or more circuit boards. Search your model number through the internet for clues.

I have red bars of different widths running horizontally across the screen.

Hi You have a ground loop problem. Rolling shaded bars are the classic sign of a ground loop. Your TV & AV gear are likely not on the same
ground level as the input cable line. The cable line is likely floating
to a different ground. But this is not hard to fix.

Little white dots floating all over my picture

On several Sony models, this is a common issue. Try replacing the HOT and check the surrounding PCB for cold solder joints.

Horizontal Lines in Picture, Picture Possibly Dimmer

The dimming is usually caused by the mirror needing polishing. The lines floating across the screen is usually caused by failed caps on the FMT board you can get the V26 FMT repair kit from

Mitsubishi wd52525 problems

i have thought about this since you first posted it. if the demo is good then the light engine is ok. it sounds like a problem in the chassis. probably on the DM and the terminal board. to repair the chassis would cost about $250.00 plus shipping.

Projection tv no picture has sound

At the rear of unit remove cover and right near the center above the main chassis is a small pcb with a aluminum heat sink and an IC attached to it, usually a STK-730-150, replace it. One screw holds the board in, is easily removed for chip replacement.

Hitach 52" rear projection tv

The problem you have with the picture is a problem with the video circuit. Most likely a coupling capacitor or the Y/C Video Jungle IC. the half mood on the picture could be a seriuos problem though. You will need to take off the front screen and while the set is on, look down all three picture tubes. Is there what looks like a spot on one of the pictubes surfaces? If there is, that tube is going to have to be replaced. If it looks like something floating around inside the tube, maybe the tube can be disassembled and cleaned.. Also check the mirrors inside the set and on the surface of the three lens, maybe there is a spot on one of those. Good Luck.
