This condition is usually caused by either power problems or lens problems.

Make sure that you have fresh/fully charged batteries in the camera. You can check the batteries by placing them in another piece of equipment to see if they work. Batteries more than a year old are frequently worn out -- they will not take or hold a charge no matter how long they're left in the charger. Another simple test is to simply try your camera with other batteries.

If possible, check the output of the battery charger. A voltmeter is best for this.

Check the battery and camera contacts for corrosion. Even a small buildup can prevent power from flowing to the camera. Light corrosion can be cleaned by rubbing the contacts with a clean, dry cloth. Heavier buildups may require cleaning with a fine wire brush, steel wool, or sandpaper.

Lenses frequently have zooming problems due to dust/dirt that has settled into the zoom mechanism. Once of the worst culprits is a soft fabric camera case or bag leaving lint on the camera. Try blowing compressed air from a compressor or "canned air" at the base of the lens to clean it out.

If you have recently dropped your camera you may have damaged the zoom mechanism for the lens. Even the smallest fall can damage this fragile system, and repair will require a professional.

This is apparently a common problem with this model Kodak. The most common do it yourself fix for this issue it to manually hold the lens out when turning this product on. Do not let the lens retract even an inch and the camera should stay on and continue to work properly. If this does not work repeat the process a couple of times in a row to see if you are able to achieve results.

Camera won't remain on

It's probably a lens related problem. Blow through the lens to remove any debris stuck inside. Or tap your camera repeatedly while the lens is facing the ground.

Difficulty formatting new memory card for a Kodak Easy Share DX7440

The DX7440 works with MMC and SD cards, which max out at 2GB. While your 4GB SDHC card fits into the slot, it is electronically incompatible and will not work with this camera. You need to stay with SD cards, 2GB and smaller.

Hi, My Kodak EasyShare C613 intermittently starts up ok, but other times the lens extends and the viewfinder stays on the initial screen. (The Kodak EasyShare system 'share') After around 40 seconds...

My camera is stuck on the screen that says "lens error" and then has four different numbers in a row. The camera lens is fully extended and will not shut off...any suggestions of what the problem could be?

Error45 Kodak easy share Ls743 LENS will not retract

Lens errors are fairly common. Usually it's sand or grit interfering with the lens extension mechanism. Or the camera's been dropped with the lens extended. Or the camera has been powered on, but the lens had been blocked preventing its extension. Or the battery ran down with the lens extended ... Unfortunately, many cameras that fall prey to this can only be corrected by professional repair. But, here are some things that you can do that may correct it. They only seem to work for less than 40% of the lens errors, but if the camera is out of warranty, they're worth a try.

My Easy Share (Z730) is in the open position & will not close.

VERY COMMON WITH EASY SHARE. There are only a couple things you can really do. FIrst, try removing the memory card and try it. Than if that dosen't work. Try holding power button while gently wiggleing the zoom.

Lens won't extend when switched on

Hi,
I would like to know what mode are you clicking these photos in.. because overexposure is due to either slow shutter speeds or large aperture. Try setting the camre mode according to the surrounding light conditions.. for example, no need of flash when you are clicking pictures in broad day light, instead of setting the camera on Auto mode, try using Portrait mode for short distance (5 to 6 meters away) objects etc..
Let me know if that fixes the issue.

And important .. Do not forget to rate the solution :D

Thanka and Regards,
Srinivas

Kodak DX7440 Lens Cover does not open or close properly

It is a common, but in most cases intermittent problem with many cameras regardless of brand/model. I also own Kodak DX7440 since late 2004, and I had this problem twice, in 2007 and 2008. First suggestion: fully recharge the battery, it helped me the first time. Second: play with the lens cover, that is try to open/close it with the camera on/off. With me, in 5 min of these attempts, it suddenly fixed itself and stays this way for one month now. Another suggestion: dont use a toothpick, since it can scratch the lens. Use a q-tip, and to avoid cotton threads sticking to lens, wet the q-tip and let it dry.
