I am not getting any sound from desktop speakers..i have sony driver installed

Onboard audio is disabled in the BIOS
The BIOS Setup program is accessed by pressing the <F2> key after the Power-On Self-Test (POST) memory test begins and before the operating system boot begins. Go to the Advanced > Peripheral Configuration menu to make sure onboard audio is enabled.
Audio settings in the sound mixer are incorrect
Check your audio mixer software to ensure audio is not muted or the volume level is not turned too low.
The speakers or headphones may be connected to the wrong jacks
Make sure you connect all speakers to the correct jacks. If you connect them to line-in or microphone jacks, they won't work.
Audio drivers are not properly installed
Check Device Manager under the Sound, video and game controllers section for any errors associated with the audio driver. Reinstall the audio driver if necessary.
Audio to back panel is muted if front panel is connected
Check your audio mixer software for a setting that mutes back panel audio if you have plugged headphones into a front panel audio solution. Uncheck this setting to allow audio to both the back and front.
Sound Playback is set to wrong device
In Control Panel > Sounds and Audio Devices, go to the Audio tab. Check the default device for sound playback; there may be multiple selections. Select the desired device, either rear panel or front panel.

Hi, click start, click control panel, click sound and audio device, click audio tab, that will tell what kind of audio software your laptop is using. You may click hardware and click the sound software and the driver update or roll back drive will appear choose which one you preffered. if this did not work just download driver. You can go download to the web site a driver. click control panel click add and remove you can see the the kind of sound software your laptop is using. You can use a different sound driver for your laptop. Microphine not working with Microsoft UAA Function for High Defin

I bet you have to uninstall the sound card from device manager first and the restart the computer. Then try to install the sound driver again. If that does not work you may have to force install the driver from the add new hardware wizard in control panel.

I am curious, do you have a dedicated graphics card installed from ATI / AMD?

Newer ones have a built-in high-def audio also.

Microphone(MIC)Of head set not working(got removed wrongly)

This usually just gets reinstalled whenever you restart your computer be it Vista or XP. In your case, the drivers for the Microphone probably got deleted. The Microphone driver comes in the package together with the sound card. You'll have to re-install the whole sound card driver to have it start working again. You can do this from the Device Manager. After doing this, the microphone together with the whole sound card drivers should start working again.

hi if you press start then go to control panel it will give some more options press on your sounds and audio devices possibly you sound is only on mute so you need to untick mute box.if this does not work in control panel you can to system click on hardware tab then on device manager will bring up lots of stuff go down to sounds, game controls click on it should show your a few devices look for your audio device click on it will tell if device is working and also let update driver try it see if that makes it work.
