Disc stuck in console how to get it out?

I had this problem recently. I got mine out using a thin butter knife. The disc had some sticker residue on it that bonded to the drive when it got hot.
> Carefully ease a long knife (or something very thin) through the felt opening. Stay above the top of the disc (printed side). Then gently hold down on the disc while pressing the eject button.

I wouldn't recommended taking the PS3 apart. Not only will it void the warranty, but it is kinda tricky getting it back together. Besides, this won't really give you better access to the disc because the disc drive is an enclosed metal box.
If there is no (belt rubbing) sound when you press eject, the disc drive probably needs repair/replacement.

When i turn my PS3 on the light goes from red to green but nothing else happens, the discs load and eject thats it. You cannot turn the system off without turning the power off at the wall.

This is a problem with the Playstation 3 software becoming corrupt. It is very easy to fix if you follow my simple steps.

Please note, this method will erase your hard drive so any save games you had will be lost. All your online trophies will be preserved.

Step 1.

Turn your Playstation 3 off into standby mode (red light on)

Step 2.

Press and hold the power button. The Playstation 3 will beep when you first press it, then beep again 5 seconds later and then beep once more and turn off back into standby mode (red light on). You must now release the power button.

Step 3.

Press and hold the power again. The Playstation 3 will beep when you first press it, beep again 5 seconds later then there will be 2 quick beeps together. When you hear these 2 quick beeps release the power button.

Step 4.

Your Playstation 3 will now start up with a screen asking you to connect a controller via USB. Connect your controller and then press the PS button.

Step 5.

A menu will now be displayed on screen. Select option 5 "Restore PS3 System". This will then ask you to confirm that you wish to go ahead with the system restore. Accept whatever the Playstation 3 says.

The Playstation 3 will now go through the system restore process and re-install the system software back to out of the box status. You will have to set your user name, date and time and network settings again.

Once you have completed the above, the Playstation 3 will restart and spring back to life again!

I hope this helps all of those out there who are suffering this problem

This is the entire DVD drive assembly mechanism replacement for your PlayStation including a new laser. If your discs are not ejecting, or you cannot insert a disc -- or you can insert a disc but it will not load, this is what you need to get your PlayStation going again!

A game is stuck inside my almost new PS3 and it won't load. Is this a common problem? Is there a quick fix?

the motor that pushes the games/movies out could be broken. a quick fix is gently tapping the console and the disc should eject. since you state that it is almost new send it back to sony they will fix the motor for you under the warranty

is there a tiny whole in your ps3? in which you could insert a small pin? if not. then the disc tray may be stuck. you could try lifting the disc tray with a pliers or something that can hold the tray and slowly pull the disc tray as you press the eject tray. Pm me for any clarifications.

Wont accept disc

Try this....after a lot of frustration and research, what i found on the internet for this problem was usless. I tried holding down the eject button for 15 seconds to reset the disc drive, still it would'nt accept the disc. As i literally picked up the phone to ring sony, as the ps3 was on standby i pressed the eject button multiple times and heard 2 beeps each time, still the system stayed on standby. After that i then tried just putting the disc in as normal as its on standby and the system booted automatically and accepted my disc. I hope this helps others, as mine now works perfectly.

MY PS3 WONT ACCEPT DISK

I bought a PS3 yesterday and had to take it back - when entering a disk it would get pulled in and start to spin but would only go in still leaving about a half inch sticking out - it would spin for about 15 seconds and then stop. I had to take it back and get a replacement which worked fine.
