Question about Norcent Technologies LT-3021WS 30 in. LCD Television

2 Answers

I have an old Norcent LT2720. I started having a problem where I'd get sound but no picture. I have been able to get the picture back by letting it warm up and then turning the tv on and off using the remote. But the problem's been getting worse and worse and now I don't think it's ever going to come on again. Any suggestions?

    Essential answers:

    How do I go about locating and replacing the board?

    Where can I purchase one?

    Are they generic or specific to the LT2720?

    How will I recognize the picture board? Is there something written on it?

    Will replacement require soldering or do they just attach with screws or simply pop in?

    Thanks

    One last question. And thank you for your assistance.

    Do you have any idea what the price ought to be for this board? Any estimate would be fine.

    Thanks.

    What is the source of the difficulty? I have built computers and installed cards and drives in them and have even done a little soldering when called upon.

    If you think those skills are adequate to the task, please let me know where to get the part, how much I should expect to pay for it, and how to do the install.

    Thanks.

    Do I need only the T-Con board or do I need both of the cards that show in your link?

    Thanks a million!

    I've been waiting since Friday for the status on my order of this board from ShopJimmy to change from "OK to ship", to something a little more promising. I called this morning and they informed me that they don't have the part. I think they might have known that when they took my money for the order, but didn't think it important enough to tell me at the time. They are making you look like a chump for recommending them, but that's between you and them.

    Anyway, any more suggestions as to where I might purchase this board? Is there any other board that might get the job done?

    Regards,

    Bill

Sounds like the video board itself has failed... I can help you find the part but the installation is extremely difficult. Unfortunately this is a very difficult repair, and unless you are an electrician I would not recommend attempting it. You will need to contact a local TV repair person in your area. If you think it may still be under warranty please contact the manufacturer to file an RMA. If you happened to purchase the TV with a major credit card (not a debit card) there is a good chance it may still be under the free extended warranty most credit cards place on electronics. Please contact your credit card company to inquire if they do this, and they will be able to file the claim and get you a refund for the TV.

If you want to attempt the repair yourself please let me know and I will get you the part number and a place you can purchase it from for what you need.

    It looks like you are in luck, the parts for your tv are extremely hard to find but I found the T-Con board here :

    http://www.shopjimmy.com/catalogsearch/r...

    If you have installed cards in computers many times this one is not much more difficult, locating it may be a bit tricky, but all the boards are labeled. SO get the new part, open up the TV and on the big main board in there are many sub-boards like cards on a computer.. but arranged quite differently. Locate the T-Con board by just visibly checking, then verify when you pull the board out, it will have the same part number on the back.

    Thanks

    Hello,

    Below is a picture of how the picture board looks like:

    Secondly, I wouldn't know precisely where you can get this because we don't stay in the same vicinity. But you can get it in any electronics accessories shop/store.

    Thirdly, they are specific to LT2720.

    Lastly, replacement doesn't require soldering.

    You can open the TV, take a very good look at the board. You can easily trace the board from your RCA/Antenna connection at the back of the TV.

    Take care.

    Hello,

    budget about $50 to $60. Price varies from store to store.

    To fix it is very easy, just remove the old one from where its connected and and fix the new one. Its might not need any soldering depending on your TV.

SOURCE: TV remote code for Norcent lt2720

I'm pretty ignorant on a lot of this stuff, so no bets here, but I did get the Dish network remote to power a Norcent tv on and off by using the code posted in the manual for an NCT television. Good luck.

Back - light problem. Check and replace damaged component/s at its back-light inverter board, or replace this board as card basis. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Surf the site with patience. Pull up older posts. It will be best to replace the inverter board as card basis.
http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/
To some model sets; especially LED back-lighted types; the back-light inverter circuit will be part of the main power supply board [SMPS]. In such cases, the power supply board might need replacement. To some models sets, the back-light inverter and SMPS section circuit will be integrated at its main board itself. If so; the main board should be replaced. To some models of sets, all these section circuit will be integrated at its main board. If this is the case, you have to replace the main board.

Active resolution of your tv is1280x720. You have to adjust the resolution in the graphic properties on your pc . Just keep tweaking it till you find one that works with your tv. I would start at max resolution (1280x720) then work my way down. Let me know what happens.

I have computor with Norcent LM 965WA monitor. Really liked the fact it had built in speakers. Worked great, now when I plug in the wire from compuitor to monitor, static but no sound. Any suggestions...

Hi and welcome to FixYa,

With your indulgence, pls verify that it is indeed the built-in speakers of the Norcent that is the issue. Temporarily plug in to the computer a pair of headphones or even an old external computer speakers. If sound, then the monitor speakers are verified, if likewise static, then it is a computer issue.

Let's try the easy one's first:
  • check/replace the cable;
  • try other ports to plug it in at the computer;
  • determine if the sound device/driver for Norcent shows up in your Device Manager;
  • determine if on Sound Property in COntrol Panel, the Norcent is selected as the default device;
  • you may want to update the firmware and driver available here.

Would appreciate a postback for any updates on any development(s) (or even the lack of any). Pls include what Operating System you are running and if the Norcent is using USB connectors or standard cables. Good luck and thank you for using FixYa.
