I have a Philips 27PT563S37A no longer works. The problem started with picture longer and longer to come on until eventually it didn't come on at all. When the TV is turned on it clicks, but no picture. This problem appears to be the same problem people have been having with the same TV. Thanks for your help.

Re: tv does not turn on
If you are trying to use a remote, try pressing the Power button on the TV itself.
If not, then it may be one of 2 possible things:
1) The circuitry inside the TV is dying. In this case, you could try to unplug your TV for a few days, then plug it back in and see if it works. If not, then you would either have to order a new circuit board or a new TV. If any other buttons don't really work, then you can be sure it's the circuitry.
2) The projector in the TV is dying. Electronics only last for so long, and when their time is up, they die. Although many projectors take several decades before dying, a defect in the fanufacturing process or engeneering could result to a much shorter life. I would suggest contacting Phillips customer support () and perhaps getting a replacement part - or again, buy a new TV.
If you are up to it, then you could probably open the TV and find the problem back there (such as an unconnected or squished wire). Please note that if you mess up anything back there, the Phillips customer support will NOT help you, and your TV may NEVER work again. Therefore, you would have to buy a new TV.
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.

Philips sets use a four digit code to control the v-chip. The override code for Philips sets is 0711, although it may say "Incorrect code" the first time to trick you. If "Incorrect code" is displayed, simply enter 0711 again. To use it hit the MENU key to get to the menus. Go up or down until you reach AUTOLOCK or SMARTLOCK, depending on the model, and push the "right arrow" key on the remote. Enter the override code, and enter it a second time if it says it is incorrect.
Once in the AUTOLOCK or SMARTLOCK menu, go to BLOCK, and push the "right arrow" key. Go to BLOCKING OPTIONS and press the "right arrow" key. Go to MASTER DISABLE and press the "right arrow" key so that it says "MASTER DISABLE ON". The v-chip is now reset.
In order to get all the channels u have to have the original remote or a universal remote that has a menu button, an enter button, and directional pad (the directional pad cannot control the volume and channels it must be for navigating). push and hold the menu button, the menu will appear then disappear, once it disappears release the button and enter 9876 then press enter. a different menu will appear and it will b three black lines, one at the top of the screen, one in the middle and one at bottom. the middle line has 3 sections the first part is the item number the second part is the description and the last part is the on/off switch using either a 0 or 1. push down on the directional pad until u get to the 00 factory settings 0 and change the 0 to a 1 with the right button on the directional pad. then scroll up to 20 channel lock 0 (i think its 20, it may be like 22 but it is in the twenties for sure) and change the 0 to a 1. then go back down to the 00 factory settings and change the 1 back to 0 then turn the tv off. when u turn the tv back on it will either automatically ask u to auto tune or u will have to go to auto program to program the channels. there are like 80 different menu items, be sure not to mess with any other ones unless u know what ur doing, u could cause ur tv not to function properly or even be able to turn on.
this problem frustrated me greatly and im very happy to help whoever i can with the solution
Try holding down the the code search button until the LED lights.. Then push the TV button.. with the tv on Start pushing the power button at one second intervals until the tv turns off.. Then push the enter button. that should find the correct code.
Hi, I had the "Ghost In The Machine". I tried out what I descibed in my original posting.
#1. I unplugged The Set.
#2. I pushed in and held in the power button in for about 5 minutes before bedtime. ( The PC trick I learned) I gave it 5 minutes because a tv set has much more power inside it.
#3. I again pushed in and held the power button in again for 3 minutes the next morning.
#4. I plugged the tv in again. The red standby light was lit. The set did not immeadiatly come on when I tried to power it up.
#5. 5 Minutes later I returned and hit the power button on the remote and it came on like nothing ever was wrong.
#6. It has been fine now for 3 days!!! Powers up when commanded and shuts down like normal. It has yet to come back on or act up as it was doing.
I will keep a watch on it and if it starts up acting again I will repost. I hope this information will be of use to anyone who experienced the same problem. It didn't cost a dime, just some patience. Thanks for a forum that people can exchange information and save trouble and money unless all options are exhausted. Bill
