I definitely believe you are more secure with the current setup. ESET's NOD32 product is recognized as one of the most comprehensive (though not as widely known as some others) in the industry. I am not as familiar with Zone Alarm, but the reviews I have read are all comforting and positive. I have heard of no significant issues with the product.

In regard to AVG, this product (especially because of the free version) has gained wide recognition. However, in wide, varied testing, it has not held up so well. Additionally, the Windows firewall has been reportedly breached in numerous instances, as is probably expected since MS is often a target of individuals in the "malware business" - mostly because they are so widely known.

Depending on the version of NOD32 you are using, you may already have firewall coverage there as well. They have a sound, sturdy, and proactive product, and update their product some 7-8 times more often (minimum, I believe) than their nearest-rated competitor. This is based on review of independent testing that is done regularly and is quite thorough. My suggestion would be to stick with what you have, unless you have had some issue with it. You definitely have a superior product in ESET's NOD32.

Thank you for contacting me, and please post back if you need further assistance. Thank you, as well, for using and rating FixYa!

My Mcafee antivirus is not working and system has found errors. Also, Internet explorer is not opening. It has showing syntax errors and asking for sending reports. kindly suggest what to do?

This problem actually arises when some of your System Files get corrupted. Getting back your original setup is almost impossible. You have told that your antivirus is not working, so there is a very strong possibility that your system has got corrupted by the virus infection. Firstly, I recommend you to scan your system with a well-established antivirus.....likely AVG Antivirus (if you are using Pirated Windows Copy) or Microsoft Security Essentials (if you are using Original Windows Copy). If this antivirus shows viruses and you are unable to get back your original system files, then go for Windows Update (for Original Windows) and your files be restored. If this one also does not help you, then go for the System Restore option. This can help you to restore your files to a better condition. You can find System Restore in the All Programs>Accessories>System Tools>System Restore option. Let's hope that this will serve you well.

Antivirus is basically a protection against viruses....

Basically it protects your pc from worms, trojans and viruses...

A computer worm is a self-replicating computer program. It uses a network to send copies of itself to other nodes (computerterminals on the network) and it may do so without any userintervention.

A Trojan horse, also known as a trojan, is a piece of malware which appears to perform a certain action but in fact performs many different forms of codes.

A computer virus is a computer program that can copy itself and infect a computer without permission or knowledge of the user.

Internet

it is possible for the person to remotely access your machine if you do not have a firewall installed. I reccomend zone alarm free edition as a good free firewall. Websites in your favorites that were not there before could signify a virus on your computer. I would download the free copy of avg anti virus to scan your machine and check.
Hope this helps.
