The keyboard has likely gotten fried, due to a short circuit..It's unlikely it'll work ever again if she 'coughed up' alot...
Your best bet is to get it fixed under warranty or an extended warranty, if you still have one.
You can also get a USB keyboard to hook up to it, or you can find a laptop repair shop to get a new keyboard installed.

How to factory reset a gateway model za8 notebook

In general try using the Windows Repair Menu by pressing F8 during startup, after the BIOS and POST screens have been displayed. Usually the option for a factory reset will be inside the first menu choice. It is also quite common for the key combination of CTRL + F11 held down during the POST screen to activate your laptop's factory restore process.

Aside from these options, if you can successfully boot the computer and load the Windows desktop, many Gateway computers have an option for running factory restore inside the Gateway folder under the Start menu.

I install windows vista on my Gateway Lt2016u Wireless Netbook/laptop...and network adapter drivers are missing.

Hello,

You still need to install the drivers into your computer. You can get all the drivers in the website of the manufacturer.

Look for drivers and download page. Enter the model of your computer and select the operating system that you are running. Install the drivers.

After installing the drivers, make sure that they are all updated to the latest version to make them work to its full potential. You can install RadarSync (www.radarsync.com) - it is a PC driver updater to make your drivers updated all the time.

I need to restore my acer aspire one series model ZG5 to original settings but nothing that I am finding online is helping :( Pressing alt f10 does nothing and when i do get a restore window, the only...

Well, in actual fact, there is no 'magic button' to restore a computer to it's original state. What has to be done is a fresh install of the operating system, wiping out the current contents of the hard disk. Hopefully your system came with a restore cd though sometimes the manufacturer just puts the restore data on a partition of your hard drive, and you have to restore from there, using a procedure they've (hopefully) documented. If you don't have either cd or restore partition, then be very careful just wiping your disk as you may end up having to buy a new operating system distribution disk,(expensive) then you have the grief of finding all the drivers to load plus the motherboard chipset drivers, and they can be a real pain to try and find. My six month old, LT gateway netbook wont charge...50% percent HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!

sounds like you'll need to get in touch with gateway for warranty repairs/replacement, though, you may try to remove and reconnect the battery, check for BIOS updates from gateway that may include fixes on battery charging , and test if the battery will have same issue when connected to another system, if available. Try to also leave the netbook connected to the adapter/charger for a few hours while switched off as it can help the battery to charge faster.

When I had XP, my webcam on Skype worked fine. I recently upgraded to 7, however, and downloaded Skype. It says that a webcam is not present. I have the Gateway LT Series 1004U, and have tried downloading...

Did you download the drivers via model or serial number. Generally the webcams drivers that come with Gateway are in three. Be sure you unistall the one that doesn't work before installing the other, restarting your computer each time. Also check the dates of the drives compared to the time you purchase the machine, some driver may be old or updated. Lastly, which i am sure you've done, make sure you have chosen the correct Operating System if you are not downloading the file from the web cammed computer.

How do i restore my gateway laptop ML3108B to factory settings

Put your original restoration disc in the computer and boot it, it will probably ask if you wish to completely restore your computer back to the original configuration, click yes and follow the prompts as given to you by the program. There may be several discs and they are probably nukbered. As the program goes through the process it will ask you to remove one disc and insert another until it tells you to remove all media and reboot. When that happens, it will be just like the day it came to you. Beware though that windows at that time will want to update. My advice is to turn the automatic updates off until the computer stabilizes, then run windows update, but choose custom install and look at the updates and run maybe 10 at a time. That way there won't be any hangups or file corruptions. Reboot after each update untill you are done. As far as your drivers for the components installed in the pc, when you are on windows update, choose custom install instead of express, click on optional updates and you will see under hardware all the updates for your systems components. Get everything there and you will be all set. Good luck, ParrotHead PC Repair
