HP Officejet Pro K550

The ink does not print and If I play around with the color settings I can get it to print in color but not in black or the black ink does not show up.

You've got clogged heads, remove the heads submerse just the "head" portion in rubbing alcohol for 15 mins and clean by taking microfiber cloth (it will get ruined) and wipe in one direction (with the grain of the printing head) and allow to dry. Make sure all copper contacts are clear of ink and without fibers from cloth etc.

Replace black ink cartridge, printer does not print


Reset the ink resetter if any or print nozzle to clear some clog ink. Check also the new ink cartridge and maybe there are sticky liquid after you remove the protective tape that will tends your printer not to print. Clean it will alcohol and try printing again.

Officejet Pro K550 text prints grey instead of black

go to the printer control panel, right click your printer and open preference or may be properties on your end, Click the Color tab, and change the color option to black or color. hope this helps. feel free to rate how helpful it is.

I guess you tried a new cartridge with the same problem.. so try to run the utility tools from the HP soft, you can download it here :
It has also a "Solve a problem" section who might help you.
Then if the problem remain check the contacts in the printer, sometimes ink goes in, dry and stop the contact. Clean it with a hear tip and water (disconnect power and allow to dry before testing)...

Can I print if one of the color cartridges is empty

No HP requires there to be some ink in each one or it will refuse to work.

Won't print just colour...

you have to check the ink levels in your cartridge. if they ae low then replace the color cartridges.

Hold the far button on the right down for a minute and it will move the head over for access
