I have a Vizio flat screen. I bought it in November. The past couple of weeks, every once in a while, black dots (spots) appear on the screen. They are sporadic. They are not all the time. They go away briefly if I shut the TV off and turn it back on. They are not there if I switch to the Wii System or if I put a movie in. They are there, however, if I go from live TV to something that is on TIVO. Like I said, they are not there on a daily basis, but are very annoying.

Re: black dots on the screen
This is the digital equivalent to "snow" on a standard TV set. This unit should still be under warranty. I would file a service claim to document the problem. It may not warrant service at this time, but log the problem as an intermittant problem. That should cover you should the problem become solid after the standard warranty period has expired.

Try this first. Not sure, but most Vizio menus within the last 4 years should be close enough to navigate through. It's a little tricky to get to. You highlight picture, then you hit the right arrow to bring up the Picture menu. Go down to Advanced Video (one above Reset Picture Mode) and hit the right arrow again to bring up another submenu. Go down to Backlight Control. There are three options: OFF, DCR and OPC. Both DCR and OPC seem to cause a problem. Try turning this feature to "OFF" and see if the the problem goes away
The problem is more or less with the LCD screen itself. The manufatcurer covers dead or burnt pixels.I would suggest contact Vizio Support on the following number

There is a backlight panel of leds that are responsible for lighting up the screen. If any of the leds or sections go bad that will be responsible for what you are seeing. See if it is economical to replace the back lights themselves.
Or, you may have a hassle with the inverter board that powers the leds.
The plasma panel is trashed-it had taken a hit somewhere and now is loosing the vacuum inside.Soon the whole screen will be black.
The TV will need replaced the plasma panel-there is no other way to fix it.This panel is like a fluorescent tube, one gets air inside ,needs replacement)
HI, Are you sure that there is balck dot on the sreen. Check one more time is it any dust on the screen. Black spot Means pixel of the Lcd sreen is fault. There are thousands of pixels in an lcd screen. when any of the pixel or a group of pixels become faulty the black spot will appear. Its not possile to rectify the problem other than replacing the LCD panle if its avilable. The avilability of lcd screen is very rare. Ajin

That problem is the Ysus board, Sometimes people will replace the Zboard at the same time. If you bought it at costco a couple of years ago you are in luck costco will refund your purchase price, costco has changed the return policy and newer tv's are not refunded, but something to look into
