Question about Vizio GV42L 42 in. LCD Television

1 Answer

Black dots on the screen

I have a Vizio flat screen. I bought it in November. The past couple of weeks, every once in a while, black dots (spots) appear on the screen. They are sporadic. They are not all the time. They go away briefly if I shut the TV off and turn it back on. They are not there if I switch to the Wii System or if I put a movie in. They are there, however, if I go from live TV to something that is on TIVO. Like I said, they are not there on a daily basis, but are very annoying.

My model is the Vizio GV47L however I have the same problem, and it only seems to happen on one channel. Does not happen when playing a DVD. When I change the channel or turn the set off they go away for awhile but then come back. So far they are only on the left side and random.

I recently purchased a 42inch Vizio GV42L LCD television and whenever I watch a recorded program on tivo black dots are on the screen. They appear in a horrizontal pattern and run down the screen in this fashion. They only appear whenever I am watching a recorded show on my dvr. Any idea as to why this happens or if God forbid my tv is about to go out?!!

This is the digital equivalent to "snow" on a standard TV set. This unit should still be under warranty. I would file a service claim to document the problem. It may not warrant service at this time, but log the problem as an intermittant problem. That should cover you should the problem become solid after the standard warranty period has expired.

I have dim spots in my VIZIO M801d-A3 80" LED TV, and am wondering which part has failed so I can look into repairing the unit.

There is a backlight panel of leds that are responsible for lighting up the screen. If any of the leds or sections go bad that will be responsible for what you are seeing. See if it is economical to replace the back lights themselves.

Or, you may have a hassle with the inverter board that powers the leds.

My tv screen has a black spot

Are you sure that there is balck dot on the sreen. Check one more time is it any dust on the screen.
Black spot Means pixel of the Lcd sreen is fault. There are thousands of pixels in an lcd screen. when any of the pixel or a group of pixels become faulty the black spot will appear. Its not possile to rectify the problem other than replacing the LCD panle if its avilable. The avilability of lcd screen is very rare.

That problem is the Ysus board, Sometimes people will replace the Zboard at the same time. If you bought it at costco a couple of years ago you are in luck costco will refund your purchase price, costco has changed the return policy and newer tv's are not refunded, but something to look into
