Question about HP Scanjet G4050 Flatbed Scanner

1 Answer

I am running linux mint 9 and I need a drivers for my Canon Pixma ip1800 printer and my HP G4050 flatbed scanner both of which are essential for my work but are unsupported under linux as far as I can tell. There is some reference to drivers from 3rd party sources but so far all have not worked for me. Are there any free opensource drivers available from anybody that works?

I have a canon pixma mg2520 and I have linux mint 15. The Canon Website says that there are no drivers available for my OS. Is there a compatible driver that I can use so that my printer can work?

Yes there are Universal Print drivers that can be used.. but it would take a Google search to find them. Also I'm pretty sure your printer should work already without the need for more drivers on Linux..... I did find an document that may be worth a read http://linux.wikia.com/wiki/Getting_Canon_PIXMA_to_work_on_Linux

Linux Drivers for Inkjet/Laser Printers and Scanners

Linux Drivers for Inkjet Printers, Laser Printers and Scanners

Open Source and Proprietary software developments for popular printers and scanners.

  • Currently HP provides Linux printing support for over 1,200 HP printers.
  • Canon periodically releases Linux drivers for certain PIXMA & i-SENSYS products based on global demand.
  • EPSON Linux Drivers is proprietary and is developed and distributed by AVASYS.
  • Brother has prepared a CUPS driver (For BR-Script Models Users) and a CUPS wrapper driver (For Non-BR-Script Models Users) package. The CUPS driver automatically copies the relevant driver files to your Linux distribution, and the CUPS wrapper driver makes LPR drivers work with CUPS.

How do I get my computer to detect my HP G4050 Scanjet. I keep getting an error message that ''No HP product has been detected and Solution Center will now close''.

First you have to download and install scanner drivers, then your system will know it has a HP scanner attached.
Go to HP.com website, choose support and drivers, enter your model and choose a driver for your operating system. Download and run the downloaded file to install the driver, and plug the scanner in when asked to by the installer.

Canon PIXMA iP1800 InkJet Photo Printer for windows 98

I think I will save you some time telling you that there is no driver for Pixma IP1800 running on Windows 98/ME.

The printer had been built to work on windows XP/Vista, and drivers for 98 were never made.

Here or here you find two of the many threads on Win 98 driver for Pixma IP1800, all of them end in nothing. I can speak portuguese, the links wrongly provided are drivers for XP, and won't work on 98, and there is also no brasilian website distributing drivers for this printer on win 98, that was just a legend.

This printer won't work on Windows 98.
