Question about Cell Phones
You must have the phone number in your contacts exactly like the number calling you or you won't see it. If that doesn't work, check your settings to see if you allow caller id. If that doesn't work make sure your telephone company has caller id turned on for your phone. Good Luck

SOURCE: On Samsung jet s8000 Incoming
Whenever you see Unknown Number, there is no way for you (or anyone) to determine who the call was from. Typically, Unknown means that no caller ID was passed with the call. If the call came from a VoIP source (like Vonage for example), no caller ID is passed. Also, if the call came from a business that does not pass caller ID (and has an old PBX, for example), then you won't see caller ID. Unknown does not mean that the caller ID was blocked. A blocked caller ID will show up as Blocked or Private (based upon the device and carrier receiving the call). Please understand that there is no possible way to trace an unknown call whether it arrives on a cell phone or landline.
