Question about Garmin nuvi 1300 Car GPS Receiver
I have just got a Nuvi 1300 and have plugged into my computer with the Nuvi switched off. A little icon (showing GPS unit and computer) shows on GBS screen and unit starts to charge. I reckon about 3 hours to fully charge. You have to unplug GPS though to see battery status.

Are you using the same port on the Nuvi to connect the car adapter and the ac charger, or two different ones? If not, then the jack could be broken (solder joint, pin?).

You will not be able to refasten it yourself. This is a surface mount part and you need a very small tip soldering iron to fix it, plus you ned to know how to modify it so it wont break again. Please see this link:

It doesn't REALLY matter, but it's always best to have anything turned off when you charge it. Hope this helps.

SOURCE: Can I use my Garmin
I HAD A PROBLEM CHARGING MY 1300 GARMIN. I PUT A SCREW DRIVER BLADE ON THE TWO SIDE CONTACTS OF THE CHARGING CABLE AND TURNED THE BLADE TO SPREAD THE CONTACTS OUT JUST A LITTLE. IT NOW WORKS FINE
