Actually a new pump is only $50, why bother replacing a seal with the uncertainty it may not work properly.

The pump seal is the problem and it can lead to bearing damage if not caught soon enough. The seal used in the waterway pump is not as easy as most seals to replace. You are better off to have it done at a pump repair shop or pool store than to tackle it yourself unless you are familiar with this seal and have the tools to fix it. A repair bill would likely be under $75 for a seal replacement at a shop and they can replace the bearings if necessary.

Water pump leaks

It will be leaking from either the housing seal or bearing seal - if it's the housing seal it will be leaking from the edge of the pump, if it's the bearing seal it will be leaking from the centre of the shaft or from a small bearing drain hole.

You may be able to get a housing seal, but if it's coming from the bearing, it will need a new pump...

My 2hp hayward super pump is just out of warranty and has begun leaking. It also has a high pitched whine which comes and goes. Does that mean waters gotten into the bearing and if so can I replace it?...

most common leaks are at the shaft seal. when they fail, it will get into the motor and wash away the lubrication from the front bearing. that in turn will create different types of noises coming from the motor. So, you will need to not only change the mechanical shaft seal, but if the noise is bothersome, then the front bearing can be changed. it will eventually seize and the whole while will get louder.

bearings are pressed onto the shaft and will need to be pulled off with a gear type puller. Then repress it back onto the shaft.

Yz 250 water pump leak

Hi mate this will be the oil & water seals the leak from weep hole is basically a warning light to tell you it needs replacing asap, you need to remove impellor, carefull not to lose the spacer washer behind it...then remove the water seal clean the surface it came from and replace with new seal. Now to do this 100% I would always replace the impeller shaft as the shaft wearing is usually what caused the seal to fail and I would also replace the oil seal which is the other side of case that you just changed the water seal (oil seal sits behind the small bearing) I would also consider replacing this bearing but maybe not critical? all up the impellor shaft the 2 seals and bearing last time I bought cost about $160... no special tools required just quite a bit of time required as you should really remove the outer engine case to access the impellor to undo it and to get to the oil seal and bearing, how ever I know guys do just open the water pump cover then rattle gun off the impellor only replace the water seal then install the impellor and cover back on then ride away! this will work and will fix the leak but is definitely the incorrect way to repair this and will be temporary fix but thought you may like to know this alternative as is very handy way to do it if your on a race meeting and just need to get through the last race or two.

hope this help cheers... Moto X Parts online.com

Thank you for posting your question here on Fixya.com.

Yes...you'll likely find the impeller body has broken away from the motor shaft so even though the motor turns the impeller is not. Replacing the impeller and the seal are not to hard but you may want a shop to do it if you are not familiar with seal replacement. While they have it they can make sure the motor bearings are still OK since the most common reason the impeller breaks is a seal leak that leads to motor shaft and possibly motor bearing damage.

Motor is very noisy

Noisy motor indicates bearings on the shaft are going bad. This happens when you have a shaft seal leak and the leaking water is getting to the bearings. Sounds like you need to replace shaft seal and set of shaft bearings. Easy fix is to replace the motor only for about $150.00 for motor replacement. Around $40.00 for seal and bearings and some of your time.

Kitchenaid Dishwasher has starting making a real loud noise

Hi Andy and welcome to FixYa. I am Kelly. That loud noise your hearing is the motor bearings. If you were to remove the lower kick panel you will prbably find signs of a slow leak of water has been trickling through the motor and you will see a water spot under the motor pump assembly.
You were correct in your assumption that it was bearings. What happens is the motor shaft ceramic seal starts leaking long before the home owner even notices it. Then the water gets into the motor and corrosion starts to build up. As the motor turns the bearing starts to spal as a result of the corrosion and you hear the loud noises.
The only fix for this sadly to say is a complete motor impeller assembly replacement. If your model number is the one associated with this post / question: KUDI01FLSS then there is one more digit after the last "S" that being one of the following numbers 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 or 6.

The motor and impeller for your dishwasher Item 10 or 18 can be found here and is listed at $138.44:

http://www.appliancepartspros.com/partsearch/model.aspx?model_id=5164895&diagram_id=907556#d907556

The seal that has failed is item 23 of the same link. Changing the seal at this point will not stop the noise.

Thanks for using FixYa.

2003 yz 250 leaking water from hole at water pump. does it mean bearings bad? and if so how do you change it. all i find is the cover or the propellar. i cant find the bearing

leaking water means the seal is gone, the bearing is in the clutch case, often needs a new shaft as well if it has wear marks, replace the bearing, it will help the new seal last longer
