Question about Microwave Ovens
I have a combi oven / grill /microwave which is no longer working on the microwave function.
I believe that someone may have run the microwave with the metal grill tray inside - thus causing a short (perhaps - not sure if I have the terminology correct). Can this be repaired, and is the cost likely to be more than the value of the unit.
Just to add complications, I live in Ireland, and therefore looking for a repair in my area (Kildare). Can I attempt this myself ??
Thanks for any advice etc.
I would suspect a bad magnetron or a loose connection at the magnetron's terminals or possibly another high voltage part (such as a shorted diode or bad transformer).
If you or someone you know decide to look into it, we have critical safety information, info on door switch diagnosis and replacement, and disassembly information at our site, and our link is at our listing here on FixYa: http://tinyurl.com/yzjozk
Otherwise, I would contact the manufacturer or your local microwave / appliance repair center for service.
