Question You just recently answer my question when you mean check the power supply explain that to me please. The fan that was originally on the cpu was hooked up through the motherboard n i hooked up the new fan through the power supply. Now when i took off the old fan it would start up and then cut off. But once i hooked the old fan back then it would run fine.

What makes 511-cpu fan not detected and 512-chassis not detected

Are you seeing this error on a system you built or a pre-built system? If it is a pre-built system, check that the fans are running. Next check where the fans are plugged in, the CPU fan must be connected to the CPU fan connector on your motherboard. The chassis (rear case fan) only needs to be connected to the motherboard if you want the monitoring/PWM (modulated fan speed) option. If your CPU fan is powered directly from the power supply, change this.

If this is a system you built or recently updated the case, check your fan power connections, as above. Next check the fan speed. My ASUS board will give the "CPU fan not detected" error if the CPU fan speed is too slow. A different CPU fan will solve the problem. (I got my fan with the CPU; it works fine.)

I hope this helps. Please add a comment with more information about your system for more assistance.

I have a hp pavilion 742c monitor said no signal

Hello, please check the power connector of your CPU fan and chassis fan. Or try to check you power supply maybe it can't supply anymore. But I guess it's the power connector.

I have an Acer AX1700-U3700A and I was working online and stepped away came back and the computer was turned off. I Pressed the power button but nothing turn on .... I have not idea what happened .... Is...

  1. Check your computer is getting power, (reconnect power from outlet)
  2. if power is ok, then open your computer cabinet, disconnect motherboard power (24 pin), then make short Green and Black wires and check power supply fan is working or not, (Switch off computer when disconnecting)
  3. if fan is not working replace power supply (SMPS) and check (working fan means SMPS is ok, but in some occasions Fan may work in defective SMPS )
  4. if the power section is ok you need check you mother board
Thank you...

We were given a Gateway EL500S computer to use for our kids. We set everything up. We did try to install an ethernet card. When we turned it on, nothing happened. The light comes on the ''on'' button but...

when you say no fan you mean the cpu fan or the case fan. the cpu fan is on top the cpu. make sure that at least this starts. if it does not start then shut down your pc immediately as it can burn the cpu.
it could be lots of reasons, but make sure that you have connected the power supply cables correctly to the motherboard. probably the motherboard may have a small led. check if that lights up. it means that power gets to the motherboard.
i would advice to find someone that has more knowledge.

I installed a new power supply when i push the power button yhe monitor comes on for 5 seconds and then goes black

So could you please tell me what exactly was wrong with your previous power supply. I know it wud sound bad to you but sometimes faulty power supply causes permanent damage in your other hardware. So may be try to remove one hardware at a time and try to restart your PC without that hardware. If you would have same problem then install that hardware and try it with another one.
When you start your computer just start with basic hardware i mean only with keyboard, mouse , monitor and power supply.
But before anything please make sure your new power supply is giving right voltage and you have applied all connection. Some motheboard have special 4pin port for your CPU fan and for those motheboard you need a power supply with four pin wire only for ur CPU fan. Make sure your CPU fan is running. If not then you need that power supply

If you are not sure please call any computer technician or take your power supply to him to check output voltage.

Good luck and hope it helps !!

New Computer Wont Boot!

when you say "the fan makes a noise like its getting ready to spin", which fan...power supply's or cpu? if you answer power supply, then the POWER OK signal is not returning to power supply and it then quickly shuts down to prevent further damage. double check a firm connection to mother board. If you answer CPU, then it becomes far more complicated. Try re-seating the memory chips.
