Try using a corded phone(borrow one if you don't have one) see if problem is on phone line. Cordless amplify static on a phone line. If static is not on the corded try relocating the base of cordless.

THERE IS AN A IN THE WINDOW AND IT SLD BE A 0

Your phone is set to "Announce" instead of "Answer." In Announce mode the phone announces you're not home but does not take messages.

I'd like to tell you how to switch modes but since you didn't specify the model of your VTech system I'm afraid I can't do that. Enter the model of your VTech system into the search box at http://www.vtechphones.com/support/general/manuals to download a copy of the manual.

I RECENTLY PURCHASED A VTECH 4-PHONE SYSTEM, MODEL LS6325-4. I HAVE MISPLACED THE USER'S GUIDE AND WOULD LIKE TO PURCHASE ANOTHER HARD COPY. HOW CAN WE MAKE THAIS HAPPEN?

You can download the manual from Vtech here. It says it's the 6325-3 3-handset version, but it will be the same. You just have one more handset.

Your answering machine is in "Announce" mode instead of "Answer" mode. Since you declined to specify the model of your VTech DECT 6.0 system I can only suggest you enter it into the search box here to download a copy of the manual to see how to change modes.

It seems like the phone uses a lot of power or you talk a lot on the phone. If your buying a cheap battery just remember you get what you pay for. This site here has some batterieshttp://www.shopping.com/xPO-Vtech-VTECH-V-TECH-Cordless-phone-battery-for-IP811-IP-811-NEW Otherwise check Ebay or Amazon. Hope I've shed some light on this for you. You might just wanna get a new phone.

To whom it may concern, I purchased a Vtech 5.8 phone in December 2007, I followed the instructions and the phone doesn't keep it's charge, and there is a lot of static, so I returned the phone in March...

The static problem would probably not be from the phone, rather from your phone line either inside your house or outside.

Constant static and interference

FIRST YOU MUST DETERMINE IF THERE IS STATIC ON YOUR PHONE LINE. EVEN WITH DSL THERE CAN BE STATIC EVEN IF THE INTERNET IS WORKING. IF YOU HAVE A CORDED PHONE TAKE IT OUT TO THE PHONE INTERFACE BOX AND OPEN THE BOX / THERE SHOULD BE A PLACE YOU CAN UNPLUG YOUR WIRING FROM THE PHONE COMPANY. PLUG YOUR PHONE INTO WHERE YOU UNPLUGGED THE WIRING AND SEE IF YOU HAVE STATIC THERE. IF YOU STILL HEAR STATIC IT IS THE PHONE COMPANY'S PROBLEM.

SOMETIMES UNPLUGGING FROM BOTH THE PHONE LINE AND THE POWER SOURCE AND REMOVING THE BATTERIES WILL CORRECT SOME PROBLEMS. FOR SECOND PHONES ON A SYSTEM THEY MUST BE REGISTERED TO THE BASE. ONCE IT IS REGISTERED IT SHOULD SHOW A NUMBER IN CORNER OF SCREEN (2)
THE MANUAL SHOULD TELL YOU HOW TO REGISTER SETS. IF YOU HAVE LOST YOUR MANUAL SEE IF YOU CAN DOWNLOAD ONE FROM THE WEB SITE OR CALL VTECH 1-800-595-9511

Vtech phones loosing connection to base

You are pretty close to the solution. The problem is the charge detection in the handset. All handsets on a cordless phone detect the battery level with an hexadecimal value in the memory. Each hex value equal a volt value of the battery. EX: 3.5v = 9B
3.6v = 9C 3.7v =9D etc... The problem is the hex value in your defective handset are all mess up. So 9B is not 3.5v anymore. Then your handset could last 1hr after foul charge or doesn't alert you before the phone goes dead due to low BAtt.
