My Cuisinart grinder was working one minute and stopped the next. Stopped working, will not do anything. Could the motor have gone out?

Hi,
Before I would assume it is the motor, I would double check the switch that will not let it run if the cup is not pushed in all the way...
make sure there are no bits of coffe in the way keeping the cup out just a bit. it needs to be seated perfectly for the grinder to run...
If all that checks out then probably either the motor or the switch has gone bad....
If that is the case you might better throw out this one and nuy a new one... there are selling for 20-30 bucks new...not worth spending much time on to fix...

Grinder a year old and stopped working after grinding about 3-5 pounds of coffee. is motor burnt? the grinding wheel still turns freely. is there a reset in the pc16?

It has an 18 month warranty and I suggest you RUN to the retailer and get your money back.... Don't buy another one because they are junk.

Incanto sirius states grinder blocked. Took apart

I own a Saeco Incanto Deluxe. It employs the ceramic grinder that has worked flawlessly for 3-4 years. One day it stopped and "Grinder Blocked" appeared. I removed the entire grinder unit, cleaned it thoroughly and calibrated the grinder. This did not fix the problem. After many similar attempts, I found the entire grinder assembly (motor, grinder etc.) online for $149.00. Install of the new assembly took me five minutes and it works perfectly. Please note that the ceramic grinding blades (there are two round ones that must be aligned corrrectly) cost $40 a piece (same site where I found the entire assembly for $149). My suggestion--save yourself the agony and replace the assembly if cleaning and calibration fails.

Won't grind after a week's use.

It's possible that it's not a motor problem, but a switch problem. I dissassembled mine, and am debating replacing the switch. I would try a multimeter, but the safety interlock is a pain.

So I might just rewire it (very easy to do!) so that it runs the minute it's plugged in, and stops when unplugged. I'll post again after I decide what to do.

Cuisinart grinder-brewer coffee maker

Use the bursh that came supplied with the coffeemaker to clean around the exterior of the motor area, underneath the grind basket. Make sure the chute is clean as well.

You have not missed anything. Unplugging for longer than 16 minutes (has 15-minute memory) is the only troubleshooting you can perform. Call Cuisinart to find out if you are still in warranty. All electronics have a failure rate. Cuisinart's is acceptably low, but their coffee makers are the least reliable of all their products. The basic problem with electronic coffee makers is that coffee makers produce high heat, and high heat kills electronics and melts plastic. At least Cuisinart has a 3-year warranty - higher than the industry standard.

Let me put it another way. All coffee makers have a high failure rate. As many Cuisinart coffee makers that break down, the non-Grind-and-Brews still have a 91 rating from Consumer Reports. Consumer Reports doesn't give ANYTHING a 91 rating. A lot break, but you probably won't fare much better by switching to a different brand. The problem with a Cuisinart breaking down is that an expensive unit broke down - you wouldn't be upset if your $15 Mr. Coffee broke every year. The law of averages is on your side - a 2nd Cuisinart will probably last longer.
