You are right, there is a partial contact inside the motherboard power pack. you will need an expert to do it for you, but if you are sure you can do it, just try opening the computer system and go straight to the port where the power cord is been plugged you will need a soldering iron and a lead to work on the board, around the port connector, you will see some broken soldering, all you need to do is to resolder the broken lead connection.
